My daughter just found out today she has a clip in he pelvic region on the rt side after gallbladder surgery over 3 years ago. She has had unexplained pain radiating through her abdomon and back for more than a year and had several test. The discomfort keeps her from getting a good nights sleep. After reading your post I wondered if you had anything done to correct the problem?

I tried to Sue within a year after I had the surgeries, but was in too much pain by that time to follow through. It is too late for me now because the Surgeries were in 1999.
Maybe you can still sue..:)

Was the same thing I was too much in pain to fight.

I know that u can sue at anytime if new element come up,...like now i know that other people experience pain....this is a new fact...

But the attorney I consulted although it looked good at the begining I think he ended up on the doctor side...and slowed down. The process so then i ended up to be too late...

but if new elements occur we can sue...but I wantto sue as a group...so they cannot treat us as if we were simple minded abnormal people.

also do ur clip go to the MRI, minedo not andthey are supposed to...

Best,

Thank you,

I had gallbladder surgery in 2001 and I too have had severe upper right quadrant pain....getting worse and worse. Dr.s told me they leave them in there all the time, especially for heart surgeries. It feels at times like there is a knife in my side. I finally got a Dr. to say "sorry" it shouldn't be there, but didn't offer me any help. I wish I could cut it out myself. Does anyone get help from their mess ups. Frustrated in California.  Joyce

OK but what about clips that are just floating around, not attached to anything?

I have been told by a friend that I could complain all I like but they will end up telling me it was a life and death necessity and win the case, as they had to clip the small capillaries to cease bleeding ... I am now doing a natural therapies course to learn all I can about taking care of myself AS I do not trust Doctors anymore ... The amount of times I have been to my doctor to have him make me feel that it is all in my head I have lost count. They seem to forget that they are human and make mistakes they want to belief they are not capable of making mistakes and theat they are never wrong ... HOW SO VERY WRONG HAVE THEY BEEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN !!!!!!!!

I also had gall bladder removal in 2007-- Was told it would cease my pain. It has not ceased but rather increased. Also, as many of you, I was not told about the clips pryor to... or after the surgery-- WE NEED HELP to right how they have wronged our bodies. I am on a search for help with this issue... it is an outrage. Still I choose to believe there are some good Dr's left and that I will be fortunate enough to find one: that will in fact, help me.

I had a D and C (Dilation and Curettage) almost ten years ago in April, after having my son and I didn't deliver the placenta (after birth) and since then, I've experienced an extreme amount of discomfort and the distinct feeling of something being in my body, poking into my rib from within..like I'm sharing my body with something and it's overtaking my well being. I've dealt with all sorts of bodily changes including severe sweating from under my arms that smells (excuse my language) like my vaginal region..the sweat has a female type smell that almost seems unreal..not normal. My left side and lower to mid abdomen feels the most intense when I first wake up and at times when the discomfort is really intense the sweat drips down my arms like tears. I'll be doing nothing physically to cause it but I will feel this in my side and feel very hungry and feel a pressure on my abdomen and nauseous stomach like I'm going to puke but never really do..It's a constant feeling for almost 10 years, since coming home from hospital.

I've visited and revisited countless numbers of doctors, clinics, hospitals, emergency rooms, and even a few specialists...but they all say most everything is normal. I've had so many tests I don't remember how many anymore and they all came back within normal range. There's a few conditions they've diagnosed me with but it's all still vague and not relating directly to my unknown pain and the feeling of something being in the left side of my abdomen, right below my rib..which I've been complaining about for ten years and seeking medical help for the same time, always for the same complaint. A person just doesn't do that for ten straight years because it's all in their mind. I have a portion of my medical records in my possession, and looking at them I see I always sought help for the same reason, the same pain and discomfort. I sought much help for many years and they pretty much always gave and still give me the same vague treatment..and no official diagnosis or real help.

My left rib protrudes and the feeling of something being there under my rib is unmistakable, but of course only to me. Gossypiboma is the medical term for a retained foreign body and gets its name from the from Latin gossypium, "cotton", and Swahili boma, "concealment". Reports state that it's very hard to find and diagnose and can go undiscovered for years and years. When you ask a doctor to examine for such a thing, it's medical taboo, forbidden, unheard of..and the line of defense that most doctors unite with is claiming it's in the patient's mind. It then becomes a psychological symptom and all other doctors you see will take this stance as well. They start referring to mental conditions and disorders like depression, bipolar, anxiety, panic attacks, etc. They prescribe nothing, not even pain medicine because they steer clear of giving you any reason to sue them for medical malpractice since they already know that's the road you're trying to go down because you're asking them to examine and diagnose you with such a taboo medical issue like a retained foreign body.

If it is metal left in a person's body, it's easier to detect on standard tests like xray, ctscan, ultrasound, etc., but when it's cotton left behind in a person's body and the encapsulation reaction happens, because it becomes "hidden" within you by your own body, it's almost impossible to persuade a doctor that's what it could be and it nearly seems impossible to get them to look for it, really look for it with the right kind of extensive testing and the suspicion that that's what it could be. There's almost no way to convince any doctor of caring enough about the patient to arise that suspicion in them so they'll do the right tests or do an exploratory surgery to look inside with their naked eye.

When asking a doctor to give you the tests that may show something or at least exclude without a doubt that that's what it could be, they find a way to put it back on you like it's in your head and these tests aren't required..They basically blow you off and send you home the same as you came. They refuse to do what it takes so it continues to go undiscovered, not diagnosed and I continue to live without answers and in pain and discomfort everyday. It never goes away, not even for a second. I always feel it inside of me because it's stealing my lively hood. It's morbid and it's an injustice. I'm in West Virginia and the chance of ever getting a doctor to help seems slim. I'm waiting for a miracle.

Cont: The conditions they diagnosed me with is an absent right kidney, a 1.7 septated cyst on my left ovary (same area of unknown pain and discomfort), adhesions on my right lower quadrant (adjacent to the septated cyst and my abdominal lower to mid quadrant pain)

***Post is edited by moderator *** Web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

They diagnosed me with the septated cyst of left ovary and adjacent adhesions in 2006 and since have done nothing to remove it. I still complain about the pain and they continue to ignore my complaints. According to my own internet research and compilation of proof, they have left something in me but it's hiding itself because my own body tissue has encapsulated it and can not be easily detected without a level of suspicion on the medical professional's part. A gossypiboma is stated to sometimes mimic a cyst or tumor or mass and it may be of more than one part or complex..such as a septated cyst, meaning: having more than one part.

According to my own internet medical research, I suspect the "septated cyst on my left ovary could be a small piece of surgical material as in cotton left behind in me from the emergency procedure, the change in medical procedure, and the change of doctors during the procedure. The circumstances of my situation puts me in the high risk category for having a retained foreign body. My surgical procedure was an emergency procedure. It was a sudden change in the medical procedure, and there was a change in the treating physician because the woman who was delivering my baby was a nurse midwife and could not perform the surgery. She used gauze to stop some of the bleeding as I was "bleeding out" as we waited on the on call emergency room doctor to arrive. He rushed in, performed the surgical procedure, and then left. After discharge, I left the hospital and have since known something was different and very wrong with my body. I feel something left my body during that visit, my baby being born, but I still came home with something else that was in my body and still is.

If my 1.7cm septated/complex cyst is a small gossypiboma, or a small piece of surgical cotton encapsulated within my lower abdomen, then the adjacent adhesions would make since (which I have) because the encapsulation process causes adjacent adhesions to form from where the foreign body material is encapsulated by the patient's own body tissue. If the cyst and encapsulation is in fact there on the left side of my lower to mid abdomen, it could be throwing an adjacent acoustic shadow on the radiology tests causing it to look as though my right kidney is missing, which they say is. We asked the gynecologist if the foreign body over time could have moved or migrated because internet medical research suggests that it can, and he said yes it is possible but refused to say that's what's happened with me.

I had two types of ultrasound, which is the test that verified I have a 1.7 cm septated cyst. It also verified I have echogenic or hyperechoic areas, which is another radiology symptom that supports a retained surgical material. When trying to present this information I've spent ten years gathering to a doctor, they refuse to even look at it because I gathered my evidence from the internet. When I tried asking a lawyer about it, they said I didn't have enough evidence to pursue a case because I need an actual doctor's diagnosis stating that is what it is. Without a diagnosis it makes it difficult to get the help I need even if my medical records and supporting medical evidence gathered from the internet proves otherwise.

If you wait for a miracle you will be waiting forever ... You need to see someone outside your area preferably a female doctor or gynecologist, Better still seek out a reputable Naturopath or herbal medical doctor .... I would also look at at seeing an osteopath as they will look into getting scans x-rays ect ... We suffer so they may learn sad but true ...
