I got my tonsils out on the 5th of January due to a recouring case of quincy which is absences on the tonsils.
I have been in lot of pain and have been taking numerous painkillers.
On Day 6 i had really bad pain in my throat jaw and ears and felt very sick. The doctor came out to my home and gave me two injections to stop the pain. I then slept through the whole of that night.
When i woke the following day i was again in pain and had blood clots from my throat I called NHS Direct who advised me to go to A+E, i was then admitted to hospital due to the bleeding developed an infection and was on antibiotics on a drip.
Its now day 11 and I feel alot better in myself however it still very sore when i swallow and still cant eat solid foods. When I am eating I see to be getting food stuck in my throat.
My advise would be to drink plenty of water and keep your throat moist at all times.

I'm getting mine out on March 20, 2009 and I'm terrified. How has the recovery been up to now? Thanks for the advice re keeping the throat moist at all times.
P.S. My sergeon told me that my tonsils are the second largest tonsils he has ever seen....
