Hello, folks. I had some vision problems and I went to see my ophthalmologist. After examination, I was diagnosed with cone rod dystrophy. I am not so comfortable with this diagnosis. I would like to know if I will go blind. Please, tell me the truth. I could really use your help about this.

Hello, there. Rod-cone dystrophy represents inherited progressive disease. It deteriorates cone and rod photoreceptors. It is usually inherited autosomal recessive. First, night vision is impaired. Later, there is impairment of peripheral vision. I am afraid that this condition often results in blindness. You should talk to your ophthalmologist about treatment possibilities. I hope that you will manage it. Good luck!

Hi there,
As much as I know cone red dystrophy is an inherited ocular disorder characterized by the loss of cone cells, the photoreceptors responsible for both central and color vision. Do you know that someone in your family had this condition? I think that there are chances that you will be blind from this condition and you need to treat this condition. Also if you have problems with light, meaning that you are too sensitive to light, or if you notice poor color vision. I think that you will be able to see better at dusk because of these problems. I hope this helped you in any way.

Best wishes,
Marco
