Hello. I'm 26 year old female and just recently I have experienced some strange things. I'm sexually active and this last year, my husband and I are trying to get a baby, but without luck so far.
About two weeks I started to suffer from constant diarrhea and I was sure it was from some food poisoning.
At that time, best friend was telling me that she’s sure I'm pregnant and that this diarrhea is a sign of pregnancy. I just laughed at it. After week period, I took home pregnancy test and it came positive. I couldn’t believe! The diarrhea continued. Please tell me, could this be true- is diarrhea sign of pregnancy?

Hello. I will try to help you understanding some facts about all this. I worked as a nurse for almost 20 years and I know a bit about all this.
First you should know is- diarrhea is not the sign of pregnancy although in many cases it looks like it is.
But the key is that diarrhea is very common in pregnant women as a result of the changing hormone levels, predominantly increased levels of progesterone. Constipation is also very common in pregnancy and it is often the result of physiologic changes that occur during pregnancy, usually from hormonal effects on gastrointestinal motility.
So, diarrhea isn’t really exact sign of pregnancy but it is very common in pregnancy. That’s the bottom line. Home pregnancy test is only way you can be sure!

I am 6 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child and I have experienced diarrhea in the early stages of each pregnancy. Of course, this isn't your definite sign of pregnancy but it could be a symptom.

If it is common for it to be present in early pregnancy then it is a possible symptom. Fatigue can be caused by many other things but is a symptom, breasts feeling different can be caused by other things....constipation, feeling sick or vomiting..... pretty much all pregnancy symptoms can be caused by other things, and all these things are caused when pregnant by chemical/hormonal changes in your body. So it's no more or no less a symptom than any of the others, every woman is different, every pregnancy is different and no symptom is a guaranteed sign.
