I have  long-standing pain, multiple conditions. I've had both ednocet and percocet, and to me, there is a difference, I don't care what they say, and believe me, I couldn't care less, I have no interest in one being better than the other. But endocets trigger migraines, or at the very least, leave me with a headache, and percocets don't. Riddle me that! Another thing: My doctor has given me  liver tests on a regular basis for as long as I've seen him, about 7 years. I think every decent doc worth his salt should be monitoring you this way if you're taking meds regularly and long term.  Recently, I asked him for pain killers with NO acetemetephin. He had to up the narcotic dose to get it that way, so I now have 15 mg Oxycodone, which I'm supposed to split in 1/2. Label says 1 every 4-6 hours as needed for pain and I never use that much, but when I need it I need it and you bet I use it. Unfortunately, one of the best painkillers out there is good old ibuprophen, but take it long enough and you can't take it anymore. It not only screws up your stomach, but it has a rebound effect, causing you to be in more pain and have more inflamation as it wears off. Good for short term pain only. But the best cocktail for pain I've found is narcotic + ibuprophen + muscle relaxers + ice packs (better yet, an ice machine from a med supply place). Heaven!

A new doc (bc I moved-awful when you've spent years building up trusting relationships with docs), grudgingly gave me a new scrpt for pain to renew my 15 mg oxys. He gives me 10/325 endocets. Thanks, but no thanks. 30 of them. If taken as directed that's 7-1/2 days! As if!! Hey, stupid!! I'm going to be in pain until I DIE......  30 pills with no refills....REALLY???!??

Also, question: Does anyone out there remember a muscle relaxer called Norgesic Forte? Where did it go?? And is there anything as good now? All the muscle relaxers they have now don't seem to do a thing for me. Except Tizanadine, which makes me dizzy and wei

I hope you get good news from your neuro surgeon. I just had back surgery in feb. 2012 and ended up with a disc fusion. I also was injured by a fall & for years dealt with the pain with no pain meds until I could no longer deal with the pain as it only got worse. At first they tried pain meds 2-3 pills a day is what I took & steroid injections into my discs, but with several injections i got no relief. So ended up with surgery after a year of trying the injections & pain meds. I do also agree with the others as far as trying to wean down on the amt of pills you take as you may be causing liver damage. I never heard of a Dr. In the US prescribing that much medication. Hopefully you will get some relief with surgery if possible. I am still struggling with pain from the surgery, so even though I had surgery to get relief from the disc problem, I am now dealing with healing from the surgery. I take 1/2 a pill at night so I can somewhat sleep comfortably at night. Hoping for the best for you...

First off when looking for medical information online it is essential to be wary to the extreme in sites like forums and web md and the like. the most reliable info will always be found at university hospital sites like the mayo clinic, the cleveland clinic, And johns hopkins.
any m***n can post garbage on most of the other sites.
with that being said not all generics are the same as the name brands. Not by a long shot. the active ingredients are the only thing that has to be the same. things like the delivery system and fillers ARE NOT REGULATED!!! even though they are crucial. one reason this is so is because delivery systems are almost always patented. for example although most pharmacists and some MD's will tell you that there is a generic equivalent to Oxycontin THERE IS NOT ONE. Purdue Pharmaceuticals the manufacturer of Oxy states at there own website that there is no generic equivalent to oxy. this is due to them being one of the first company's to obtain such a strict patent.
watson brand generics seem to be the best that i have found in my 7 years of pain management. I hope this info is a help to you.

Hello! Is there anybody who could tell me if there is a difference between endocet and percocet. First I was using endocet which worket fine for me, and had to take percocet one time from the pharmacy as they didn’t have endocet and I got no pain relief from percocet. Is there anybody who understands the difference/ Thx

I was asking the exact opposit question. I had taken percocet before with fairly good pain relief but when I had to take Endocet I did not get any relief at first. It reminds me of what a pharmacisists told me once. Sometimes what we have eaten even hours before taking the medicine can have an effect on how well it helps our pain. He said people have asked that question and then had their blood tested and found the same amout of the medicine in their blood even though they didn't feel as if it was there. I think that is why the pain clinics give out the breakthrough short term pain medicine. Personally, I think that there are times when the strongest medicine made would not stop my pain. We might as well get use to it and be thankful we have some pain relief instead of none. That was the way I had to live for years, No pain relief. I know two people who can't get any pain relief because of their doctor's idea about pain medicine. The doctor knows they are in pain but to save his own licemse, one Dr. stoped giving her any medicine and will not send her to a pain clinic because she is overweight and he doesn't like overweight people. What do you think of that?

I THINK THAT DR. IS A DISCRIMINATING as****e. HE MUST LOOK LIKE A DAM TOOTHPICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree completely with you. I am also a single mom and would just like to have my life back so that I can enjoy more with my children, who are my life. I wish you all of the luck in the world and hope that you get back to your old self. Thank you for the inspiration you have given through this writing. Good luck sister. Namaste.

Sorry to hear about your pain. I had a similar thing happen to me. I had back issues since i was 18 years old and as I got older I started having more pain and started taking pain meds at the age of 25. I have been taking Oxycotin 40 and Percocet (endocet/now percocet due to moving and they don't carry endocet) 10/325 8 a day. I decided to have back surgery in 2006 at the age 42 and was not even two months out of my surgery went back to work 6 weeks after my surgery and a vehicle made a left hand turn at a light and I had the right of way and hit her due to the fact I had no where to go but to hit her in my work truck.. totalled out both vehicles and threw me into a pain that I won't forget. could barely walk and had to wait 7 months before they went back in and refused and put new hardware in. I now have worse pain and have to take more meds than I did before my surgeries. Endocet works better for me as well better than percocet round white or oval white. The problem is; I don't get high off them either nor do I like to take them, but I can not function without them. Tooo much pain. I hate pills that is why I had the first surgery and look at me now. More.. My body is used to them and I would withdraw major if I didn't have them because my body needs them now. I would rather die than be in that much pain.

honestly if you take that much medication your body IS dependent on this...physically dependant..and if you were to stop abruptly you would have dangerous side effects and withdrawl...you dont relize it now for you get a script filled but try not filling it and see what you do..but then again you dont want to be in pain..and that is why they made such medicines....eventually you will build a tol for thats how your liver processes it...and you may need to increase dose...quite a dangerous combo you have mso4 and oxycode..and jeeze i thought i took a lot..hope all goes well for you.

SIXTY mg of Morphine AND 10-24 Endocets??? Very dangerous combo!!! If you are truly in that much pain, talk to your doctor about dilaudid or maybe the Fentanyl Patch. Those are much more effective for chronic severe pain. If your doctor won't listen, find another doctor or go to a Pain Management Clinic. Good luck!

It really sounds like you are having issues with your liver. You should talk to your doctor about prescribing you Suboxone or Subutex if you want to clean your system. I have several family members who use these medications long term, and they say that they drastically reduce the pain and other discomforts related to withdrawing off of opiates. They block the opiate receptors in your brain and make the urge to use go away
