I had the foul order as well and was beginning to get horrible pains in my lower abdomen and back as well mind you I am not on my period and was having this pain so due to this I had it removed.... Instantly I have stopped smelling the smell now just to figure out how to detox all of the copper from my body is the next plan

I feel so much better after reading all the comments on this page. I had the IUD inserted on July of 2010 right after I had my tummy tuck (yay). I loved it until about a few weeks ago. I noticed the smell. It makes me feel so disgusting. I've tried cleaning it with summers eve, used sprays and powder and only lasted for a short period. It's driving me insane. I even feel less sexual with my husband and that to me by far is the worse. I am so glad to find this site and thinking about making an appointment to get it removed.

I had the paraguard placed Oct 14. Since placement I've had a 12 day period, usually it's 4 days. I've had a off white discharge that drains continuously in between periods. I'm thinking of having it out. Have never had any vaginal problems prior to iud insertion. Cramping. Bloating. Gassy. Nonstop. I started having a foul smell these past few days. I'm 30 no kids. My doc said no pills because I have migraines with aura that makes me predisposed to stroke and blood clots on the pill.

Oooh I'm just glad I'm not the only one experiencing this "DISTURBANCE" para-guard is a "NO,NO" this experience is not good at all,it limits one's hapiness,maybe its God's way of saying we should not use it,eish the cramps,plus having to check yourself time and again,plus the smell,yuuck I quit ! This is such a torture to one's life,I wish I could remove it myself,I wouldn't recomment it to anyone! Such pain and disgrace that you have to live with day in and day out mhm!!! :( :( :(

I got my paragard inserted almost 2 weeks ago, and suddenly in the last 3 days I have this disgusting odor and pasty light brown discharge. It is horrible!! I see where so many have posted about the discharge and odor but I have never had this type before. I had a Mirena IUD before having my 3rd child, who is now 4 months old, but then decidede to have Paragard inserted this time because of the lack of hormones. I never had anything like this with Mirena. I'm second guessing this if, from what I have read, this odor and discharge don't go away!

I am 40 yrs. old-no children. I have had Paraguard in for about 10 months but always feel similarly paranoid about getting pregnant. About 2 months after getting the IUD my Dr. checked and everything was still in place. I have never checked for the strings myself...but am contemplating it tonight. 4 days ago (which woukd be about 9 days before my period is due) I started bleeding during sex with my BF and he says,"oh...I think you just got your period." And think, 'oh...f$%#ing wonderful...love when that happens.' After sex I sit on the toilet expecting my period...but there wasnt anything more than what came out during sex. So for the next 2 days I am on high alert for my period having "period provisions" on me at all times... and still nada. Not even a faint pink wipe (a tell-tale sign for me). 2 more days have gone by and nothing. Just that one "clot", is the best description, during sex. My body has never produced something like that before. To say my level of Pregnancy Paranoia was "extremely heightened" would be an understatement. Manic is the word I keep coming to...so much so that I have 3 pregnancy tests on-hand and a date with Mr. Tall-Man tonight for "The Hunt For Red February" (aka...my IUD strings). And while I've always known I was special....I'm pretty sure I'm not in the 1% group of Premature Natural Menopausal 40 year olds in the U.S. So...as long as I'm not pregnant...Paraguard has clearly been the best decision I've made in my adult life. I had the same problem and several doctors told me they had never heard of such an experience, must be because I or my partner were not clean. After removal, I never had the problem again.

I got the paraguard in 2012 after my son was born. Than i got it taken out maybe 5months later. I was thinking about having another but I was like hell no not right now...lol...As far as the paraguard before my periods comes i will have light blood for two weeks where i need a panty liner for that. Than when my actual period comes its for six long as days. Its like i be running out of two boxes of pads but when my period is off that smell comes...OH GOD the funk be coming like a rat died in there.. A dead dam fish.... Even if you wear a panty liner you can smell it through your clothes.....you just have to wait about a week or to before it goes away. Now use everything for vagisil I love this stuff.

I've been dealing with this same problem for about 6 months now I'll think it's gone then BOOM odor and discharge. I'm getting mine removed tomorrow I have been having to wear a tampon every day for almost 3 months now in order to stop the odor from coming out. I would advise everyone to not get an IUD.

And about the hair growth YES! I'm a blonde and ever since I got the IUD my nipples get random black thick hairs and on my chin! I can't wait to get my IUD removed tomorrow so I can hopefully go back to normal again. When I asked my gyno if the hair could be do to the IUD she said no an that I probably have PCOS! Without any test or ever have a cyst and not meeting the normal classifications of PCOS I was quiet shocked she just easily claimed that's what I had

Hello ladies, ive had paragard for 3 years now and yes I also have a discharge but its not smelly. A few weeks ago i had BV i think bc i abused the douches and I had the sypmtoms that some of u mentioned: discharge with foul smell, worse after intercourse. After the BV treatment the foul smell stopped but as before always an annoying yellowish discharge that never stops. Apparently its normal bc all my testing came back negative. I guess paragard is comfortable but we have to put up with that side effect. Glad im not alone. Bye
