My sister gave a birth to one beautiful girl last week. Little Amy (that’s the name she gave her) is so cute and I am pretty sure that she has eyes just like her mother even though she is so small.
My sister is so happy and excited about having a child but there is one thing that bothers her. She has a lot of “baby pounds” left and she doesn’t know how to lose them. Like many women she wonders how long it takes to lose baby weight and bounce back to the body she had before a child.
Do you have any tips for her how to lose baby weight?
Well, you are right. Almost every woman worries about how to lose baby weight after giving a birth. I remember the time when my aunt was pregnant and when she gave birth to Pit. She had hard time to lose all of the extra weight after pregnancy. I remember it so clearly, I can’t believe that Pit is 12 now.
Anyway, most new moms are too tired and overwhelmed to even think about exercise. That’s perfectly ok in my opinion. Tell your sister not to do anything hard for another week or two. Her body needs to relax and refresh after the labor. Maybe the best advice for her right now is to take walks every day and try to increase time spent in walking and the tempo of walking every day.

Regina_Phalange has a good point. She shouldn’t do anything exhausting for about two weeks. Maybe she doesn’t notice that but her body is so sleep deprived and in a state of shock after giving a birth (giving a birth is so much stress to the body) so she needs to rest a lot. After a couple of weeks tell her that she can start with power walking and jogging.
Another good thing for losing weight and speeding up the metabolism is lifting the weights. She can buy those small 2 pound weights almost everywhere and she will probably be ‘’forced’’ to exercise with her baby by carrying her every day. :)
