Hello, folks. I suffer from arrhythmia and I am currently on flecainide. I started using it few weeks ago. However, lately I feel very tired. I would like to know if this can be caused by this drug. Does it make you tired? I would really like to know that. Thank you in advance.

Hello. I was too on flacainide. It really makes you tired. I felt fatigue like never in my life. I just wanted to be in bed and never to get up. I hear this medication can cause a depression within some people. However, I was only 3 weeks on this med. How long will you be on it? Has your doctor told you anything? After stop using it, you will feel better.

All antiarrhythmic drugs can make use feel tired. The reasons why you felt tired because these drugs slowed down your heart beat. If you are very tired, you can ask your physicians to switch to other drugs or install a pacemaker to help your heart beat faster.

I have been on Flecainide for 31 years - yes you read that right - I was 19 years old and in the original drug trials. As I have aged it has been harder to tolerate but it works for me. I take 300 mg per day but I break it up during day time 50 mg ever 3-4 hours and then a whole tablet at night - it also helps me to not be sedentary after taking it - tiredness only lasts for about 30 minutes for me.

As to the pacemaker comment - ridiculous - flecainide is used to treat dangerous heart rhythms - a pacemaker cannot fix that

I agree, in regards to the cranky woman who made the rude comment about the pacemaker. She's an unhappy, mean person who has no sympathy for anyone in life.

True, I take 2 a day, I'm tired all the time. Even after 8-9 hours of sleep.
Dr. says to be more active but don't feel like doing much. I have gained weight and am stuck there, even eating less and only healthy, no snacks! Has helped my afib,
but heart rate is typically 54.
