Hello! I have a ten years old son. He wears glasses to correct his eyesight since he suffers from myopia. I have noticed his myopia has been increased in the period from his last eye check up. Although he wears eyeglasses there is no improvement in his eyesight. My sister tells me that it is common is school children. Does nearsightedness grow with age?

Hello! Yes, it is common then nearsightedness grows with your son’s age. It sometimes grows rapidly during the period of intensive child’s growth. And it worries almost all parents. Your reaction is completely normal. The eyeglasses he wears help him to correct his eyesight but they can’t prevent myopia to increase. Don’t worry! Myopia will most probably stabilize in his late teen age and stop to grow.
