I have been on antibiotics for two weeks. My period symptoms came as normal, only with more eating, weight gain, irritability, and breast tenderness, and i too am late for my period. I do relate this to the antibiotics. If you can get a yeast infection from them then why couldnt they effect your period?

Wow this forum brought me so much relief.  I've been taking Keflex for about 3 weeks (started them right after the end of my last period) and I'm about a week late now and I'm normally very regular.  I'm not sexually active, but I worry anyways cause I'm just an anxious person.  Glad to hear I'm not the only one... You would think this would be listed as a side effect of these bacterial-ridding antibiotics.

I was on 10 days of Amoxicillin for strep and my period was on time, but very light. I am not on the pill and am not pregnant (confirmed by HPT). The anecdotal evidence presented here and in other forums confirms that antibiotic regimens can affect menstruation.

I was on Agumenten a month ago during my last period for strep throat. My period is now 9 days late. I have taken two pregnancy tests and both were negative. I have no symptoms of my period (cramps, sore breasts) either. There is very little chance I am pregnant but I am still freaking out (which doesn't help)! Hoping it comes soon. Glad to know I'm not the only one in this boat! :

My period came 12 days earlier after taking cipro antibiotic for uti but my period was so light. My period is always on clock 27-28 days cycle. I'm pretty sure the antibiotic messed up cycle. I was really alarmed when I had my period so early but after reading all the comments from this section, I felt so much relieved

Had same problem when I took cipro for uti. Antibiotic messed up my cycle. My period comes in like a clock for 27-28 days cycle but after taking cipro, my period came 12 days early. It wasn't a heavy flow like I normally have but this time it was spotting for few days. So I am pretty sure the antibiotic did all this abnormal period

Although the thread is a little old but I would like to add my experience. I have a longer cycle of 40 days and last week I took amoxicillin for my tooth infection. And from the third day of taking medicine I have got my periods. And it's only 19th day of my cycle so I am 3 weeks early which is annoying.

I'm with you but I am taking amoxicillin for an ear infection and they have me on about a month long dose, I'm two weeks late and still no sign of my period. I am not sexualy active but worry about it because I have gained weight, bloating. The antibiotics does not agree with my stomach either.

I took an antibiotic for a bladder infection for a course of 7 days. I'm in my late 40's. It started my menstrual 5 days early. I was surprised by this. I'm extremely accurate and my cycle starts every 28 days on time.

It's really irritating to me that this information is something I had to look for as the other ladies here did. I'm so tired of doctors treated us gals like dumb animals. I know my body and so do most women. I was relieved to see other women have had the same experience with antibiotics. However, having the information BEFORE having a delayed period for a week with extreme PMS symptoms would have been very nice. This should be on the leaflet information of every antibiotic so we don't get all this stress and anxiety over nothing which also throws our periods out of whack!! Still a man's world.

Im in the same boat. I've been on augmenting for a really bad ear infection and now mine are 3 days late. The ear ache and the antibiotics has made me so horrible nauseous ( yes digestive and ph off too) and so its hard to not think the Pregnancy word. But then i got a beautiful bout of thrush ( sorry TMI) and thought.. THANKSSSS!!! Its obviously taking a very big toll in my body.. and my menstration is saying F* That.
