effect of antibiotics on menses

Hi i read your story and it is almost simillar to mine... Iv been havng all kinds of infections and hv been on anti biotics now my periods are 6days late... I wanted to know if you whr able to receive you periods after that time

I took Bactrim and my period is MIA for 2 months. I have taken several blood tests for pregnancy and all were negative . We were hoping they were wrong, since we were trying, but there is no other reason for me missing. It's pretty awful being told that this "NEVER" happens and that it must be something else. I'm pretty sure after reading several forums that it is definitely a side effect and now I have to take another god awful drug to make my period return. I think from now on it's Oregano oil for me. :(

I was taking amoxicillin for 5 days after dental procedure and few days later I was on Nitrofurantoin for another 5 days for UTI and my period was late by 2 days and I am always 28 days for years so I was worried that I might be pregnant (since I was trying to get pregnant for a while after my misscarriage last year) but not wanted to be pregnant while on antibiotics. However my period came 2 days later and it seems like antibiotics can affect the cycle. I read about it as normal. However if your period does not come for a long time just contact the doctor.

I'm on Cipro for a UTI that I was diagnosed with a week ago. My period is 2 days late and I'm so concerned. I've had a ton of PMS symptoms that I usually have though. So strange.

i was placed on weeks course of Ciproxin for a kidney infection, my period was due 26th March but never arrived, i had severe cramping for the past three weeks and a feeling of nausea, i did 4 pregnancy tests all of which were negative and a blood test by doctor confirmed i wasnt either, she confirmed to me that sometimes ciproxin can delay your menstrual cycle. period eventually arrived this morning

i was on cefuroxime due to uti & strep thraot for 10 days a month ago and now 2 weeks late. pregnancy test is negative and i don't feel iom pregnant. although freaking out coz it's the first time i've missed my period this long.

I just started my period 2 weeks late after having been on two different antibiotics last month. I think they definitely affect your period.

I had a very similar experience. I was placed on antibiotics for a UTI after having unprotected sex. After I finished the antibiotics, I experienced both thrush and spotting for about five days around day fifteen of my cycle along with sore breasts, mood swings and abdominal pain. My cycle is normally very regular and it's unusual for me to experience any spotting or PMS symptoms until about day twenty-one of my cycle. I felt like my hormones were completed out of control and I was convinced I could be pregnant. My period was three days late, but all pregnancy tests were negative. Thankfully I got my period today and everything appears to be normal. I had a blood test with my doctor just to double check. It had definitely made me more weary of taking antibiotics in the future as they have absolutely just wrecked havoc on my body over the last two weeks but I'm very glad not to be pregnant!

In my case I was advised to take up cefalexin for 7 days due to excision of my right (sole) foot. My period just came 2 days late than normal, and it only lasted for 3 days while still taking it up.

I finished 10 days of Cipro 6/20, I was supposed to get my period 6/14.. it's now 6/25 and still no sign of it. A few days ago I experienced the token symptoms of my period coming.. raging anemia headache and cramps.. alas.. not even a spot... 10 days late and counting. My nipples are seriously tender and my breasts swollen.. My Dr. says delayed period is not a side effect, I think men don't know anything about women.. MD or no MD. I can't write off being pregnant.. however, I don't think I am, my hubby and I have been having unprotected sex for a 1-1/2 years with no babies yet.

I started ketfex for a sinus infection. I already had my period this month. Been off for 2 weeks. And now I'm having it again. At first it was spotty, but not now. The Drs say it doesn't mess with your cycle, but I really think it does. How else do you get 2 periods in one month???
