Are there any studies that show that Zithromaz is NOT effective for sinus infections?

My physician does not prescribe Zithromax in it's 5 day 'Z pack' form for sinus infections. He says a longer course of treatment is preferable for sinus infections and usually treats them with a 10 day course of amoxicillin 3x a day.
