Hi. I’ve recently had some blood tests and it turned out that I have lightly elevated sgpt. What does that mean?? Should I see my doctor for this?? Is this something serious??

Elevations of SGPT indicate that the liver cells are either leaky (internal contents are entering the blood) or damaged. There is a wide array of conditions that can cause this problem, like viral hepatitis or alcohol. But, on the other hand, different laboratories have different normal sgpt levels so in one lab they will tell you that it is elevated while in the other they will not. I thing that the best thing to do is to check that level with your doctor and, if there is any doubt, you should check your liver – just to make sure,
