I've had these same issues, only its gotten worse over the past few weeks. I'm fairly certain its stress related. I've been told that the morning dry heaving and bile puking is because of grinding my teeth at night. When you grind your teeth it causes your saliva glands to work. You ingest the saliva and your stomach thinks its time to produce food digesting acid. This in turn creates the morning heaves. I thought I was pregnant and I also checked milk allergies. Wasn't pregnant, turns out milk was an issue. But even after cutting it out of my diet I've continued feeling these symptoms.
In the past few weeks I've gone back to a diet of chicken, veggies, fruit, and straight water whilst cutting out a majority of processed foods. Ill drink chamomile when it gets too bad. However even with these differences I'm still getting sick and experiencing dry heaves. It doesn't seem to matter what food it is. Even water is starting to have a negative effect. I've gotten to the point of not moving and eating one meal a day. And...I've no money to see a doctor, whom never seem to have any answers even after charging over a thousand dollar bill of tests. I've lost faith in the health care here.

I have had this problem for 3 years going on 4, and its just taking controle of my life. i'm afraid to go anywhere anymore. i'm always constantly gaging and gaging, i cant even go to the grocery store without having an episode. it all started when i was a junior in high school, and i was very invovled in theater, and i have never had this happen before, but for some reson it happened right before the play started, and kept happening all throughout the play. i figure it was just a fluke it will be better tomorrow for the next show, but it happened agian. i have discovered a supresant for myself and now i'm addicted to them because i'm afraid i cant get through a day without them, they are cough drops. now i am about to start college, and i'm realy scared right now. i dont know what to do?

I am following this post again, since I wrote my post some years ago, things have not improved at all. As I sit down now and type this, I had to get a slice of bread to eat which inevitably calms my heaving. I have not been able to find one doctor to help in all of this. I think we should start to communicate somehow, so we can bring this to light. I am taking this blog to my doctor for him to read as he thinks I am a fool.

Like most of you guys I have been suffering the same for years, usually sucking a sweet prolongs the heaving but lately even this hasn't worked. I have just came back from the Doctors and would advise everyone the same, this is not something you should ignore and as the Doctor said, I should have gone years ago. They don't know the exact cause as yet but have mentioned it could be things like ulcers, alergies or possibly something more serious so, as a result I am on a 6 week course of medication (30mg Lansoprazole Gastro Resistent Capsules), having my bloods checked and then a breath test for ulcers. Please do see your GP

Hi, me again. So I discovered the cure to my problem. Turns out i was just EXTREAMLY stressed. stress can have a great control over your life if you let it. Ive sought out meditation and breathing and it has helped. I just calm myself down and reason out all my big and small stresses. But it still wasnt enough. So I got rid of all the past pain, past issues, and current issues. AND ITS STOPPED. Ive had this on and off for years now. 2 weeks ago was a recurrence since a year previous. I was scared of being in public and not finding a job. being poor. What im trying to say is a maned the f**k up and stopped being a p***y scared of my life, failures, and fears. I said f**k this sh*t. imma cool b***h. and VOILA. I was cured. stop freaking out calm the f**k down and get a hold of yourself. your brain and thoughts have more power over you than you appear to know.

I've had this for 3 weeks now.  It started after I had some Wnedys and got some food poisining, although i never vomitted anything up was just dry heaving.  Now its been daily like 5 times a day for 3+ weeks.  For me its not stress related must be a stomach bug or something but I still need to see a doctor

I've been experiencing this now for around about 4-5 months, Never sick at all just heave. at the moment now its alot worse/frequent because i have a cold. I have been told that i could be Anemic and had blood tests taken to investigate this. No results yet but my doctor seems to think it could be connected. There is also a high chance that i am diabetic, as all 4 of my mother, father and grandparents are all diabetic (even though none of us are overweight) I've been told that this could also be contributing to these dry heaves but have had no real conformation as of yet.

i also do this dry heaving every single day.  I do have one clue, it started (literally) the day my mother died and has been happening every day now for 11 months.  That can't be a coincidence.  I've always been anxious and have been on anxiety medication for 2 years now.  My mom and I were abnormally close and I spent an inordinate amount of time with her either in person or on the phone.

I wake up every morning and feel like I am being choked and immediately start gagging over and over.  If there is food or even water in my stomach it will come up.  Random smells like my dogs food and yucky items like carrying dirty laundry to the washing machine make me gag.I had an ultrasound on my stomach, a catscan of my head.  Nothing  Took prilosec and zyrtec.  Going for endoscopy next week.

I started having dry heaves a few months ago and at first it was only while I was having a bowel movement. And it only happened once every few weeks.  In the last two weeks it has been happening by itself. I will first feel nausea, feel the onrush of saliva and then start dry heaving. Even if I have food in my stomach, nothing comes up.  It can last up to five minutes.  It seems to follow no pattern, only happens at home, not during any particular activity.

I should mention two things: I had gastric bypass surgery (laparoscopic) seven years ago and have had virtually no complications, lost about 120 pounds and then stopped losing.

The other thing is that I have been under quite a bit of stress for the past year. First, my boyfriend moved in with me because he was out of work and couldn't afford to pay his rent. He just recently moved out, at my request. We were very incompatible living together in a small apartment. No privacy and too much togetherness--it really stressed me out. Another cause of stress for me has been having a new boss for the past seven or eight months who is a micro-manager of the worst kind. My job used to be fun before he was hired. Now I almost dread going to work.

So I'm wondering if stress alone could be causing the dry heaves.  I'd never even heard of this phenomenon until it happened to me. Any answers out there?  :'(

I am in my 60s and began to dry-heave in the mornings about 6 months ago.  I had an endoscopy and my doctor told me that I have a bacterial infection oin my stomach called HPylori and I was given medication (that includes several remedies, including an antibiotic) that needs to be taken for 10 days.  I have not begun the treatment yet, but plan to begin soon.  Some of the side effects I have read about the medication are pretty scary, but I will go through the treatment anyway. I was told that no alcohol can be consumed during the treatment or one can get VERY ill.
