I was reading this list of complications that commonly affected people who suffer from type 1 diabetes. One of them was retinopathy. Since this is a first for me, I'd really appreciate some information about what diabetic retinopathy is. Is it serious? Can it be treated? I know it's got something to do with the eyes but that is the extent of my knowledge :-).
