Hi Suferdude28,
This is a great bit of information you shared. Did the Dr ever determine what your particular issue was? Also, how do you suggest figuring out how bad your odor is, especially if you cannot smell it yourself? Thanks for your very informative input.

I don't have this problem but maybe I can help. From what I read it sounds like the problem is in the intestines/colon so I would suggest this product I am using for something else that might also help u, it's called mannatech, basically it corrects the balance in you digestive system so there is enzymes, pre and probiotic supplements. Just a suggestion, I won't get anything from your purchase as u can do it online and it gets delivered to your door. I just understand how difficult it is to cure something when doctors only treat the symptoms and not the cause and all u end up with is more symptoms and meds.

plz don't worry as i was suffering from the same problem for about 10yrs and i m out of it now and happy with everything and socially..plz visit gastroenterologist because this is related to you intestines and this is due to the excess bad bacteria in your gutwhich does all this and let you smell like poop, dead fish, sewage, etc etc..

Hi there,
I work for a naturopath and am very involved with the treatments the physicians perform and advise. I would suggest getting tested for the MTHFR genetic mutation. It's a blood test that can be run as a regular lab, so it's not a specialty lab. If this genetic mutation is positive, you have a problem metabolizing folic acid and b vitamins. It can treat your toxins in your body like non toxins and vice versa. This odor you and everyone else speak of is extremely common w this genetic mutation. The fishy smell is from too much choline (as previously mentioned) however, you must also avoid aluminum(found in deodorants and toothpaste mostly). If you drink too much alcohol, drink too much caffeine, eat fish (even one serving), take too much adderall, smoke or are dehydrated, the smell tends to get worse and is more prominent. It is recommended that you take a probiotic every day (25 IUs or higher) to help with this as well as drinking half of your body weight of water in ounces per day. There is also a supplement, 5-MTHF, that will help process and metabolize what your body can't do on its own. I hope this helps and may give you something to think ab and consider for the future!

I've been dealing with the same exact thing. It's the build up of feces in our intestines from constipation, that is what is causing the odor. Doing a colonoscopy is what I need to do but I'm trying to figure out what else to do to cleanse out my whole intestines. I take a lot of medications which is causing the constipation. The smell is so bad that people outside my house can smell it and they gag, my neighbors constantly throw stuff at my house because of the smell. Nobody will confront me about it though, they must think I'm just a smelly dirt ball who doesn't take care of themselves. I don't want to confront them either because I don't want them to know I'm taking a lot of medicines for 2 rare neurological diseases. I don't ever smell it but everyone else does big time. For everyone who has this issue, cleanse your intestines and keep them clean. I'll come back and post anything I find that works for me. I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one who goes through this, I thought I was the only one suffering the worse kind of humiliation possible. I don't wish it on anyone but it's nice to know others who understand and can share info with. Stay strong everyone :)

You don't need quack nonsense like "colon hydrotherapy" or natupaths. you need to go to a real doctor and probably a psyciatric one at that.

Hi, everyone. I guess we're not alone in this situation. I'm a 42 year old male. I have type Type 2 diabetes and also take medications for acid reflux and anxiety. I've struggled with this condition for most of my adult life, and it has caused me a great deal of anxiety from time to time. It's not an everyday occurrence, but when it happens, I get really anxious and depressed.
I've noticed that whenever I put on weight or eat spicy, sour, greasy, fatty foods (including dairy), my acid reflux gets worse. As a result, I sense my body chemistry is off. I get this strong odor (ranging from natural gas, sauerkraut, etc.) coming from my breath or groin area. It has nothing to do with personal hygiene because I shower twice a day, use a deodorant, and wear clean clothes. Usually, I go to the bathroom to flush it out of my system, but some days like today, it's very persistent. I've talked to different doctors; none of them knew what to say, except I was just anxious.
I have been able to manage this condition by trying to eat light. A diet of more fruit, veggies, fiber, and probiotics/yogurt has certainly helped and paid off. Most days, I eat oatmeal for breakfast and then soup or salad for dinner. I've lost 15 lbs over the past few months, but due to the holidays, I've been indulging more than usual, which is probably why my acid reflux and body odor got worse again.
I wish I could be more helpful in giving advice. It helps to stay active; I exercise on my elliptical machine every day. I meditate and and try to adopt a more positive outlook on life. I realize it's not easy, but this is how I get through it.
