Naloxone is a medication that wipes your system clean of opiates. It is primarily used in overdose of opiates and used in emergency departments. I have the Naloxone injectors (in case of overdose of opiates) and I take Suboxone as well to curb the withdrawal of opiates and the cravings. Buprenorphine is the medication that aids in withdrawal symptoms and helps with the cravings. Naloxone is the medication that aids in wiping the system clean of opiates and also makes it so opiates have no reaction therefore both medications together work to help the patient comfortable while coming off opiates, and keeps them from using cause the opiates will have no effect.

You really need to know the facts b4 you type something. All of this was told to me by my dr who prescribed it and by the pharmacist that filled it for me. Oh and you can find the accurate information on-line and on the paperwork that comes with the medication when you get it filled.

Also if your on Suboxone you should stay away from any and all habit forming type medications (not just opiates) Flexeril is habit forming. (I've screen to school for this) it's not an opiate but taking it with Suboxone will lessen the effect of Flexeril.

If you have questions you NEED to talk to your Dr and or a pharmacist, they will know more about this than me or the person I'm responding to.

This is the best reply of all. Simply put and CORRECT. To answer the subutex question, you're supposed to be pregnant or producing breastmilk to get them because ppl take other meds with subutex defeating the whole purpose of helping an addict. Naloxone is harmful to the fetus making pregnant women the exception. I'm sure if you pay a sub doctor enough in some clinics, they'll give it to you but most won't now.

You're actually quite wrong. Suboxone and subutex are they same but they have a slight difference. Suboxone contains naloxone which DOES have a purpose. It is included in the buprenorphrine film so that if a user dissolved and shot up the medication to get high the user would go into precipitated withdrawl. Subutex you can shoot up and that is why most suboxone doctors won't prescribe it unless necessary.

I know this was posted a year ago but actually you are wrong??!! Naloxone IS AN opiate blocker. an antagonist against opiates. The buprenorphine is there so you do not detox hard from the opiate and naloxone is to help stop i you do any other opiate.....the misconceptions of drug facts. But i myself will not curse or call names just bc im actually educated on the substance.

I am currently on suboxone and um naloxone IS an opiate blocker so it helps with addicts that try to take pain pills with suboxone it will do nothing. Naloxone is actually used ( as a separate drug on its own) to reverse the effects of narcotics such as heroin percs etc to a person that has overdosed. You can buy it at any pharmacy and keep it on hand of someone was to overdose. SO naloxone is not put in suboxone just to make you "feel better" it is there to sit on your opiate receptors so if a person is to take narcotics while on suboxone it will not give the person that "high" that comes with it. It will still help with pain but that's it. Suboxone actually sits on receptors right next to our opiate receptors . Suboxone saved my life.

You are incorrect. Naloxone is the blocker. You know when someone overdoses and they get a shot of narcan? What does that do? Block all the drugs in the person's system so they stop working. That's what naloxone is. Same as narcan. Google it if u don't believe me.

I agree with jusbrock. Naloxone is the same as narcan. Same principle anyway. I've been on suboxone for 4 years. 8/2. Jumped off at 4 mg 5 days ago. The only withdrawal I'm feeling is ,sorry but diarrhea and fatigue. I did research on what vitamins to take to help with withdrawal. I'm on day 5. Sleep 12 hours a night. I take about 12 give or take vitamins 3 times a day, drink ensure plus 4 times a day due to the fact I'm 6'4" tall and weigh 321. I would assume if I have some of the symptoms I mentioned, why not all of them? I think it's the vitamins. I just have noone to talk to. I liked your response to the know it all that was wrong, Well both he mentioned block, but sayin naloxone doesn't is like saying 2+2 is 6. If you have any advice or want the list of vitamins , please reply. Thanks man.
