Hello. I'm 45 year old female and I'm really worried for my sister. You see, just recently she has developed some skin condition called Fox-Fordyce Disease.
I really don’t know a lot about it but I know all her symptoms. First thing she has noticed are intense itching located in the underarm area, the pubic area, and around the nipple of the breast.
She didn’t consider this to be something serious but it lasted for couple of days and that’s why she has contacted her dermatologist. That’s how the diagnosis is set. Can anyone tell me more about it!?

My mother has been diagnosed with this strange disorder and that’s how I know a bit about it. You see, almost only women are affected with this disease.
From what I know about it- the problem is with sweat glands.
The sweat becomes trapped in the sweat gland and in the surrounding area causing intense itching, inflammation.
Sometimes an enlargement of the glands is also present.
Before, this could be only treated with surgical excision- but now- topical tretinoin cream as therapy is highly recommended.

:-( Hi, I Share your sister’s pain. I have had fox Fordyce for many years and it is DRIVING me crazy. I have had a biopsy done to confirm I have fox Fordyce. My doctor has told me I need to see a dermatologist, but I do not want to be a practice subject for them to find a cure. I am a little curious why no one can find a cure for this disease as it seems to affect a number of women. If someone knows of a diagnosis short of operating can they please HELP!!

I am 16 years old, and i am a virgin & i went to the doctor after i thought i had an allergic reaction to my new deoderant! my doctor sent me to a dermatologist and after looking at my rash for about 2 seconds he told me i had fox fordyce disease! I was pretty shocked but when i did some research, it described my problem PERFECTLY! itchy and a rash on my underarms, areolas, and pubic area! he said there was no cure, but i would really like to discover some kind of treatment, like ASAP! just know that you are not alone!!!
