I am female, 59 yrs old & never had anything like the sebaceous cyst before. Has taken 2 months to get rid of 3. First one I thought was a pimple but too hard. So, I started searching to see what it was. No real pain, mainly annoying & sometimes felt when going to the bathroom. After a week of nothing happening w/it, I used witch hazel on a cotton ball which someone here recommended. That does dry up a lot but does not get to the core. I could see 3 zit like cores in the one cyst. Used a bottle of witch hazel over the past 2 months. I went to my family physician for route check on thyroid & while there she checked it. She thought it was follicultis (hair follicle) & advised hot sitz baths several times a day or warm compresses. After these attempts failed I then made an appt w/my gynecologist. She too agreed they were sebaceous, not infected & continue keeping it clean and doing sitz baths or compress. Neither Doctor wanted to give me an oral antibiotic because they said it didn't look infected. So here I am again and am impatient so I read some more. By the way, gyno doc did give me a prescription for micuprocin which is a cream antibiotic which brings the fluid to the top. But slowly, like ten days!

The sebaceous cysts are gel like material that hardens and may have some smaller pimple like cysts inside. Finally what did work for me was first I took a hot (hot as you can stand it) with Epsom salt. The water does make the skin more flexible to feel around & make the cyst move. After the bath I applied the micuprocin & while wearing my underwear & stretch pants I used a heating pad. Now you may say it was just the right time for the cyst but I believe the heating pad is what made the gel much softer. I also read here from a lady that described squeezing one. Not like you would for a pimple. You want to get behind the cyst to move it (moving the keratin inside). Thumb is used to stay in one place w/your index finger pushing to move it. This is a duct like thing full of the keratin. If you let your thumb up the keratin almost immediately fills back into the duct. Then when you have pushed as far as it will allow it will cause the skin to break letting the keratin out. This happened on 2 of the 3 I had. The one that didn't pop on its own I used my fingernail (yes, gross) to make a small cut. It doesn't hurt. At first I thought it must be tough skin down there but it's more likely due to the sebaceous cyst being so hard to begin with.

Each time after pushing the "goo" out I felt a bit of liquid but not a lot like you would think. Also, it drained later in the day after finishing. Each time I used the witch hazel to clean up. Alcohol would Def! burn.

I hope not to ever having another one but will know what to do next time.

I am not a nurse, doctor or trained in any health care so this is up to you if you want to try. The darn things were so hard I really felt like they would be many months to drain on their own by doing sitz baths so I decided to try myself. I hope this will help someone else.

I have these as well and I tried to stick a needle into one of them because they drive me crazy. It hurt like crazy and I stopped.

I went to my Gyno and I'm surprised I'm the first one saying this but she said it is caused from FRICTION. mines are very hard and located on The inner part of my outer labia.

Anyway she called them something like colostrum and said its cholesterol in the cysts that is caused from friction. I have 3 on the right side and 4 on the other.

I've had them for about 6 years now. They don't grow and they don't go away. She said she could burst them but they would most likely come back.

A Bartholin cyst is very different than what most of us are describing. Those are usually one and can become the size of a walnut and are not under the skin and hard. They also don't last longer than a week and are painful but can easily be popped.

I get these to! Could it be this?

BARTHOLIN’S GLANDS CYST
The Bartholin’s glands are tiny glands located on each labia minora, near the vaginal opening. These glands produce fluid that lubricates the entrance to the vagina and can become blocked, causing a cyst to develop. The cyst can become tender and, if large, can cause discomfort when walking/sitting. If the cyst is small and is asymptomatic, it can just be monitored. Sometimes the cyst can become infected and develop into an abscess. In these cases, the cyst or abscess can be drained by a doctor.

Wow, that's awesome, thanks for sharing.
My very first one, I got scared. But reading that I'm not the only one ,makes me feel better. I thought maybe I had an STD.
MINE IS 3 DAYS OLD. I'm using Vaseline, so I don't feel it all day. Until is time to shower.

Bartholin's cyst. Google it. I get them about once every other year. Nothing to do with sex activity. Just be careful it doesn't get too painful or it has to be drained. I have always been told to take a sitz bath 2-3 times a day for 3 days. This usually fixes it and its relaxing to do this anyways. Been told stress may be a cause to get them more often. But I just leave it alone and they go away on their own.

Im from Holland and stumbled across this website cause I too have these sebaceous cysts. They started appearing when I first shaved my labia majora. They're right on the edge of it. Ive been so ashamed to see a doctor that they have been there for 15 years. Small lumps that are white or yellow underneath my skin. They move under the skin and feel really hard. 2 years ago my labia majora had so many of those cysts that it started to hurt during sex and I didn't like the look of my vagina. My lips were swolen because of all the bumps underneath.

I looked it up online and they are called atheroma cysts. I went to the gyno and she removed all of them. There were 35 cysts on both lips and she had to cut them out. Now, 2 years later they are back!! And hurt. The gyno told me not to shave down there anymore and Wear cotton underwear. But I did shave and theyre back and I gotta go get them removed again

I've had these cysts as well and currently have one, weather they are bartholin glands, sebaceous glands or just plain clogged pores, I can't really tell. They're firm, under the skin and tender to touch. Like others have said, a few days of relaxing, nearly hot, sitz baths with Epsom salt and lavender oil eventually soothed the ailment away. I'm starting to take it as a reminder to be gentle with myself and take better care etc. if you have a man and he's bugging you for sex tell him to buzz off lol MY OTHER SECRET FOR THE PAIN : NEOSPORIN LADIES!! It works on facial acne so I tried it down there and it relieves the pain.

I have the exact same thing! They are on both sides. Outer labia (majora) but inside...the side closest to clit/vaginal opening. They are very hard. Do not itch do not burn do not grow. Just there. I've noticed them at the age of 18...I'm now 36. When I was pregnant at 28 I told my gyno about my concern because I thought it was genital warts. She said it didn't appear to be. She ran a herpes test and it was negative. Before giving birth the doc decided to test one for cancer. My gyno said one for sure looked like a sebaceous cyst. The biopsy result was benign. It's really embarrassing to have these pimples and not every one can be so loving unconditionally. I wish there was something I can rub on them and they at least disappear. They are like pimples lined up in a row (vertically) about the size of a grain of rice. At first glance you don't see them because they are flesh colored but you definitely feel them.

Yes I feel you. You described exactly what Im dealing with (once again) and they are definitely atheroma sebaceous cysts. They line up vertically and disform my vagina, and hurt while im driving my bike for example. So im gonna get rid of them again very soon. I had 3 injections of sedationfluids "down there" and it took her 2 appointments and 4 hours later to remove all of them last time. And the healing with the stitches and all wasnt very pleasant but it healed so well and looked so much better afterwards. But now they're back and I do know I get them when ive shaved down there. The glands get infected because of shaving and irritating the skin and bumps appear. Hard ones, they look whitish or yellow up close. Ive had it with them. Ive ordered a Philips Lumea Prestige ipl to get rid of hairs without shaving. Cost me 500 euros but lets hope it works

Ive been looking into this online for myself because I have experienced this as well. I found something called a Bartholin Cyst. It says it tends to happen when you're not sexually active for awhile. Its a build up in the glands that keep our vaginas lubricated. I liken it to a female form of "blue balls" LOL. Hope this helps!

Did you ever resolve this? You just described me to thet

Sounds like a Bartholin duct cyst or gland abscess. The Bartholin glands are located along the labia minor on each side and secrete fluid along the vulva. They can become 'plugged' with fluid or infected. Have your doctor examine it.

not a bartholin cyst as those are located at the vaginal opening.... careful not to misdiagnose. this person and others are talking abt a fluid sac inside the labia minore (the flaps)
