Hi All.
I too have a large bump on my forehead which I got way back in school while running with my hands in my pocket and taking a fall, face first on a drain cover. Knocked me out at the time. That was some 40yrs ago. My hairline is now starting to recede and I've decided to visit a consultant to see about removal. I remember asking my Doctor about it in my late teens and was told that "it had turned to bone and nothing could be done". I've since grown up now and thanks to 'Youtube', think I've seen how the removal is done. I've booked an appointment to see a surgeon here in the UK in August and, should I be confident, will have the procedure done. All in all, the cost quoted is under £2000, which though high, if it does what I hope, will be worth every penny.

I've heard that they can grind down the lump, but eventually will come back. I know a man who has almost a golf size on forehead. I was shocked!

I have a small lump just over left temple for about 4yrs. Doesn't hurt at all. Not the bone hard as some mention, but the small soft lump. Seems bigger from time to time. Well I think it is related to chronic sinus trouble. When my sinuses bother me to the point of getting medicine and I'm on meds, the lump resides, gets smaller. So I think this sinus problem never really goes away at some internal level. It's just not bothering us. But the side effects I believe are these lumps.

Do you by any chance have chronic sinus problems? Because I think the soft lumps are from chronic sinus problems. It's lurking there even when we are not experiencing any symptoms. When I am on sinus meds from the doctor my lump resides. Never completely before meds are gone, but resides. I truly think it is related.
And this is not medical but I feel I have to say this because I feel your sadness in this post... People open there mouth often when it should be closed! Stress is never good for us and specially when we are dealing with medical issues. Stay focused on your path to resolve and making mental adjustments you need to get yourself thru this. I don't know you. But I know this... That lump is not who you are. Be you.

Just to let you all know, had the op done just under a week now and all went ok. Wasn't an Ostema, but a cyst which developed from the fall I had all those years ago. Along with the removal, my surgeon said there was a lot of scaring beneath, which was removed also. The Cyst was about the size of a small pea. At the moment, just waiting for the swelling to go down and stitches to dissolve. Steri strip in place for another 3 days, but all in all, I noticed the "Peak" of the bump has gone and once the swelling goes down, I think It will be even over the forehead area. The whole op was about an hour. Little pain once injections went in and after they'd worn off. Overall, happy with the results.
