Is there anyone here on the forum who is familiar with different kinds of lumps? I noticed a hard lump on my trachea this morning. I am still not sure if it has something to do with my recent work outs, and is thus temporary and somehow related to a pulled muscle or something, or whether it could be serious. When should one be worried about a lump?

I think that a lump that has been there for less than a day is not a reason to seek medical care, unless it is very painful to the touch or obviously septic, in which case you could need immediate treatment. In the case of tumors though, they do not appear overnight but grow over a long period of time.

It is not all that big though. It could be that it was there before but I simply failed to notice the lump, or even that it was there before but it was too small to be felt on the outside of the skin? Since you already mentioned the T word (tumor), could you tell me what the usual characteristics are in tumors?
