i'm not sure if i have costo or not but all my symptoms to me point in that direction.
i expereience aching and pain in my rib cage area. it is mostly on the right side and sometimes it hurts to breath in to deeply. this achiness and pain radiates round into my shoulder area and i can also feel it radiating in my breast area. i went to see my gp and he arranged for me to have a c reactive protien and bone density blood test done. these can back normal, and nothing else was suggested or done.
i started suffering this rib pain just over 2 years ago after giving birth to my son.
could this be costo? would i be better going back to my gp? does the pain radiate round the upper body area or could it be something else? i also suffer with acid reflux and health anxiety so i automatically asume the worst.
any help or advice would be so greatfully recieved.
many thanks

I am having moderate to severe pain when inhaling and exhaling in my back and under my right breast. It feels like a tightness and if I shallow breathe it is not as bad. It seems to be worse when I lie down at night. It also hurts to use my arm or lift. I went to the doctor for a chest xray and it turned out fine. He wants me to go for a blood clot test. This is becoming unbearable. Any suggestions would be helpful.

It sounds like costochondritis - I have had this condition for four years now. My gp ordered an MRI and, fortunately, the radiologist picked it up. I've learned since then that it is difficult to diagnose. I have pain in the same areas as you do and am not able to take NSAIDS due to the stomach distress they cause. I am working with a PT for an unrelated problem but she has included stretching exercises that are slowly helping to relax the pec minor and pec major muscles. The pain is especially significant just before my period starts. My sternum area actually feels lumpy during that time. I also have anxiety and think the worst.
