I am really worried about a friend of mine, she is 17 yrs old, very athletic and healthy. The other night we were texting over the phone and all of a sudden she told me that she had a headache. When she got up to get an advil, she said she fell and passed out and when she came to her ear was bleeding from the inside. She didn't know who I was for about 10 minutes and was really confused about what was happening. She told me she was nausious, and shaking really bad. She won't go to the doctor or tell her parents about the blackout she had. The following morning she had no recollection of what had happened. She said she had been having headaches for about a week or so but it was the first time she passed out like that. She has been sick with mono for about a week as well and I don't know if maybe her headaches and the black out is a result of her being sick for about a week. I'm no sure what to do, cause I want to tell her parents but she won't let me. Please help %-)

Hi honey! I am VERY concerned about this! It could have a lot to do with the mono! BUT as soon as you mentioned the bleeding from her ear FREAKS me out!!! So she is your friend and obviously scared to find out what it is, BUT as her friend I want you to talk to her parents1 She might be ticked off with you, BUT if this is life threatening and you have saved her life by bringing this to light, then I'm sure she will forgive you! Also know this, a LOT of people tell others - becasue they want THEM to do it - even though they say not too! IF she didn't want anyone to know she wouldn't have told anyone! So I think secretly she wants some help! Could be wrong about that, BUT her health over rules anything else OK? You are not betraying her you are helping her - IF I were you I would go over to their house tonight when everyone is home and just tell them infront of her! Then they can question her! Also tell them that you have mentioned her symptoms on a medical site and they are VERY worried and want her to be taken to the hospital to see if she has a brain bleed! I want you to know that I am NOT a doctor honey, BUT these symptoms require IMMEDIATE attention! When she fell she could have formed a clot! So please get her some help and let me know how things go OK? Good luck honey, BIG hugs to both of you!
