Hi I'm just 14. Lately I have been really tired, light headed, getting headaches when I'm overwhelmed, ear pain, and huge lost of appetite. I recently also had a bacterial infection in my throat. During then I had high fever, pain when I moved, and fatigue. I have done my best to look up things, but I'm not so sure what to do. First of I'm going to find out as much as I can on the drug they had me on while I had the bacterial infection. I already found some stuff about mono that sounded close to it, but I'm not sure. My friend just had mono too, but I have no idea how I could have gotten it because when she had mono I was home sick at the same time with the bacterial infection. I forgot to add in that I have leg pain after being active, or just plain walking around. It might be handy to find out whats going on because my family has a history of MS(multiple sclerosis). My mom is paralyzed in the legs because of it so I being a worry wort from the leg pain. Besides what I'm doing, Can someone please help me out? I'm a sport fanatic during the summer so I want to find a way to get rid of the fatigue.

My son has had similar symptoms. Although, he is autistic - I could tell he was in a lot of pain on his left lower abdomen. He has had the pain for about 3 weeks now and got worse last week. He's had headaches everyday and loss of appetite. They took an ultrasound on Monday and we found out that he has an enlarged spleen. Let your doctor know what is going on and to get you in and take some ultrasounds of your lower abdomen. My son goes to see a specialist next week. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

WOW! I am sooo also glad I have found this post! For the last almost 2 months I have been having headaches almost daily, loss of appetite almost every meal every day, increased hunger, fatigue, some body soreness, and the most prominent is EXTREME thirst!! Like I'm talkin 5 water bottles and 3 huge glasses of water daily if not more! It's driving me nuts and my boyfriend! My last period was normal and I'm not yet late on this months. I'm not sure what is wrong with me!
The basic things I use daily are:
1. Degree deodorant
2. Crest Toothpaste
3. Loreal shampoo/conditioner
And that's really it.
Any ideas?

Ok! So I'm 20 years old, female and I live on the coast in Oregon. I've been experiencing abdominal pain/discomfort, nausea, loss of appetite, unable to gain weight, fatigue and tiredness for the last 2 years. It all started after I was diagnoised with a "stomach virus" that only the elderly people were catching in my town. During this time, I couldn't eat anything, drink anything (including water), had severe abdominal pain, severe nausea, weakness, and blurred vision for three days. After two days of throwing up everything I tried to put down, I had my mom take me to the doctors. There, I was told about the "stomach virus" and was hooked up to an IV for hydration for nearly five hours. I can't remember if they even did blood work, but I was released after the color had come back to my skin and put on antibiotics. The antibiotics only seem to help the first two days, then I was starting to feel nauseous again, abdominal aches, weakness, and still a loss of appetite. I figured my body just needed to adjust to the antibiotics fighting off whatever was infected or wrong in my body so I toughed it out. I was able to eat again, not like I use to, but enough to get me through the day in a healthy way. Almost immediately after being able to eat and drink again, I gained 15-20 pounds in water weight within a couple of days. I have never weighed more than 108 pounds, and when I was stepping on the scale and seeing the digits in the 120's, it was some-what depressing. Soon after the weight gain, I started having shortness of breath, felt like someone was sitting on my chest and it would usually come with pain that would last longer than the feeling of tightness. I was born with a hole in my heart so I took no chances with that feeling and moved to my mom's in Dallas, TX, to seek medicial help there with her. Since we were told back in Oregon that my hole had healed it's self while I grew a few years before, we were concered of the possibilities of whatever else. After living in Dallas a few days, I'd wake up with shortness of breath, my heart would be racing so fast and I could feel it pumping the blood; I would get really pale and weak. I was able to pull myself out of bed, but the second my mom saw me, she told me to sit down and she called the ambulance. I was rushed to the hospital two times that week, then on the third time, I was admitted. While admitted, my mom gave them my history as a child, and my most recent illness, the "stomach virus" information, hoping they'd find something! But after 4 days in the hospital, I was released with pain meds, inflammatory meds, and antiacid meds. They did a blood test that showed I had high acidic levels in my blood, along with a white blood cell count that nearly doubled my red blood cell count. They did four echo's on my heart and found that the hole was still there and it had never closed. It was located on my left ventricle and I was told it was more than likely not the cause of the tightness in my chest, shortness of breath, and feeling the blood pumping in my heart. I was told to follow up with a cardio in two weeks. The Nexium that was prescribed for me made me sick, so I called the doctor on my discharge papers to hopefully do a follow up, but strangely, I wasn't in the hospital system. I had all my discharge papers in hand, and I was being told to call number after number for days. After a while I gave up, untill it happened again, and back to the hospital I go. But this time, it was a different hospital. Same thing though, after stabilizing, I'd get discharged. I was out of hope and tired of the constant let down and dead end roads. I moved back to OR and decided to live with all the pain. Over time I became immune to high waves of pain. New symptoms occur as time goes on. My stool hasn't been hard in the longest time. It's the worst in the morning and I usually end up going to the bathroom 3 times within an hour of being up. It's been red colored and very foul smelling. My vision has seem to change as well. It's hard to drive at night now. Bright things usually give me a headache. When I get my periods now, I'll be so tender and fatigue, I cant move at all! I was recently rushed to the ER for abdominal pain so bad that when I was forced to stand for longer than a minute, I'd get really hot, sweat all over my body really bad, pale and nauseous so intensely, I'd instantly start dry heaving. They ran a CT scan of my lower abdomin and found my left ovary was swollen. They then ran an ultra sound on that ovary. The doctor didn't tell me anything about the ultrasound. She told me to follow up immediatly with a Gastroenterologist. I'm looking around now and hoping to find someone who can help me. If you have any advice or know someone who had these symptoms and was diagnoised please let me know. I don't know how much more of the doctors I can take.

2 years ago I had severe abdominal pain, just all of a sudden and ended up driving myself to the hospital. Went downhill really quick and had been sent down for a scan - while standing I kept passing out cos the pain was so bad so could only lie down! It ended up being an ovarian cyst that had burst so had to get it out along with the tube. Have had problems with my stomach for quite some time and have got a lot of the symptoms that everyone is explaining on here, abdominal pain, sore breasts, heartburn a lot of the time, lack of sleep, around every second night I can't sleep! I have had my appendix out too so it's not that, and it's not that I am pregnant as my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for the last 6 years or so and are currently getting tests for fertility! Got doc appointment for Thursday so hopefully can determine what is wrong, but someone had mentioned endometriosis and a lot of the symptoms seem to be the same???

Serious increase in thirst is many times an indicator of diabetes. Please tell your doctor so he can order a glucose tolerance test to test whether or not you have it.

I think it's also possible you could have a thyroid issue. THe problem is that your symptoms are kind of vague. Let us know how it turns out for you, okay? I want to hear how you're doing!

to everyone who's mentioned excessive thirst among the rest of their problems, this may sound crazy but you should really get a CAT scan, especially if you've hit your head recently. there's a section of your brain thats very sensitive and easily damaged, and it regulates the chemicals sent to your digestive tract, and any excessive drinking usually means this has somehow been damaged and its not sending the right signals to your kidneys so they're not recycling water like they should, it causes many other symptoms as well thats often thought to be digestive so people keep seeing the wrong type of doctors and don't get an answer, there's various treatments for it if that is the cause.

I was not aware that you really could injure yourself with an issue like that. I wonder how you'd be able to convince a doctor to do a cat scan for something like that as I think they'd be reluctant. How'd you get your doctor to do it?

My story. After a severe strep throat and 5 courses of antibiotics, I had my tonsils removed. It was the worst pain and misery I've ever had including complications and difficult recovery. I became pregnant a few weeks later around January 4,2008 but didn't feel anymore fatigued than common pregnancy fatigue. I gave birth September and was tired for a few weeks but not out of the ordinary. Then about 3-4 months after having my son , I began showing signs of post-partum depression. I began taking celexa during my last trimester of pregnancy to prevent that since I had mild ppd with my oldest son but the medicine wasn't working even after increasing doses and switching to another antidepressant , my depression got extremly worse. I hated getting out of bed. I wanted to sleep alot and lost intrest in activities. I started smoking and drinking alcohol(3-5 beers 2-4 nights a week) concerned family brought it to my attention that I wasn't myself and they were worried! So I got a new haircut, made myself get up and go places and I did feel better but it didn't last long. After 2+months I began going downhill again. I had not had much of an appetite since having my son but it got worse. I had to make myself eat and it was hard! I did drink alot of water, soymilk, juice, Gatorade, and sometimes tea and drank 1-2 ensure drinks a day when I couldn't eat. Around may 2009 I had nausea/vomiting , severe panic attacks, uti's, and feelings of like electricity going through my face, arms and other parts of my body. My doctor was weaning me off my antidepressants and put me on klonopin for panick attacks but I still had withdrawl symptoms for months after weaning off. My fatigue got worse and my weight plunged to a scary low weight.although I was taking multivitamins, b12, and eating what I could(only tolerating breads pastas rice) and ensure , I was going downhill and getting worse.I ate cake, cookies, and breadlike sweets in desperation to gain weight. I had dizzy spells and blacked out once. I fell down the end of august and left my back and neck sore for a few days. I went to primary care doctor and he suggested I see a mental doctor thinking I had severe depression w anxiety and needed a specialist. I'm currently going to therapy. My throat got sore and I had fever for a few days late august. I assume this was when I got mono. Following that, the worst fatigue yet! I was drained to the bone and had to get help from relatives to take care of my one year old and 8 year old. I felt like I was dying and continued to seek treatment. Gallbladder was a concern so I went to have it checked and it was fine along with the rest of my organs. The pain between my shoulder blades was severe so after gallbldr was ruled out I went to urgent care and had large muscle spasms and inflamation pressing on my nerve endings. I was treated, felt better but 2 weeks later I was back with painful staph infection. MRSA was to blame and I had to battle the painful lesions for 2 months. While at the uc center a nurse listened to my other problems and suggested I get tested for mono. During this time another odd symptom occurred. After eating a small meal, my abdomen swole up making me look 6 months pregnant. This happenned about 4-5 times a week and now about once a week. It brings alot of discomfort but goes back to normal in a day or 2. I went to a new doctor .... ( to be continued )
