If you feel horrible and have for a while, food disgusts you, every doctor you have been to thinks your crazy, you've been poked, tubed, had a million blood tests, you very well could be allergic to gluten. The only reason I say this is because 3 years ago, i searched every blog with the same questions and frustrations. I am now 37 years old but over the last 3 years, I tested negative for Celiac Disease twice which is why I continued to consume gluten. After 3 years and many doctors and what felt like a near death experience, I finally found a doc who was educated on Celiac Disease enough to know that the blood test is never 100%. By the time i went to him, I had already been on a gluten free diet for 6 months and I was a totally different healthy person! Whether it is Celiac Disease or a gluten intolerance, I would suggest keeping a food journal and writing down everything thing you put in your mouth. Also write ALL the symptoms you are having that particuliar day- every detail- even bowel movements. Begin to eliminate gluten from your diet and if it is the culprit, you will feel better within a week. It may take a few months for your intestines to heel. Keep in mind that gluten is hidden in many products so education will be key in continuing to feel better. You can't go wrong with fresh fruits and veggies because there are no labels to read. Continue the food journal until you realize that you found the answer you need. If you are not better, take the journal with all your notes to the doctor. You are you own health advocate so find a doctor that will listen. It may take going through many to find the one, but if you know something is wrong- don't give up until you have the answer. You are not alone because this happens to many people and it happened to me. I understand the frustration of being told nothing is wrong. Even now, when i accidently consume gluten I feel as though I have the flu because I hurt all over and feel so sick. It's hard to even get out of bed and I can't even think straight. I would also suggest being checked for food allergies as well just to be aware of everything you may need to avoid. A gluten allergy is an autoimmune response which explains why you would feel horrible in so many ways. It is important to find a doctor because if you are allergic/intolerant to gluten, typically you may also have low iron and B-12 levels because of malabsorption issues which can add to your fatigue. Make sure your vitamins are gluten free and shop for all natural hair/body products/make up if you are having skin problems. Gluten makes my face break out and scalp itch, if I use certain products with mystery ingredients. Health food stores are a great place to start! Lastly, vomiting blood or blood in your stool (not a typical symtom of gluten allergy) is dangerous and you should demand immediate answers. Find a doctor that will find an answer for you! Remember, YOU are paying them so if they have poor bed side manner, take your business elsewhere! Good luck everyone and I hope you find the answers soon and get your lives back!

I, like all of you, have the same symptoms. I get lower abdominal pain after eating that lasts until I get everything out of my body (which isn’t pleasant), loss of appetite (or afraid to try eating because pain will come), nausea after eating, and I also get bad migraines. These symptoms mainly come around the time of my period, or are at least the most intense during that time. I have had my gallbladder removed which was an entirely different problem (pain in the upper right stomach) and it didn’t help any of my other symptoms. When I visited my doctor, he said that it sounds like I have endometriosis (I also have heavy bleeding/cramping during my period). The only way to see if you have this is by laparoscopy surgery, which I don’t want to have again (since I recently already had it for my gallbladder). Also, he said that a lot of times after burning off the endometriosis, it can return. A way they treat endometriosis is to put you on the pill to help with the overall menstrual cycle. For awhile I was feeling a lot better with all my symptoms, but I recently had to switch pills due to insurance reasons and my migraines and stomach pains have gotten worse. I am going to the doctor to try to switch pills so hopefully it will take care of my migraines and stomach aches. Hope this helps!

Hello, I am a 21yr old female. I have had abdominal pain from my left to right side between my rib cage & belly button and down my right side to my hip bone. As well as weakness, and fatigue. I have been to a GI doctor, a Surgeon, and a family doctor, as well as the ER. I have had 2 sets of blood work ran, CAT Scan, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Upper GI Test, Nuclear Scan ran and nothing is coming back except an over active gallbladder. The drs have treated me as if I have a stomach ulcer and Gastritis. Nothing has helped. This has been since April 2011. it is now July and I am tired of being in constant pain, it feels like pressure and I am not tender to the touch. Everyone said gas or stress, but for 3 months I think things would have changed by now. Any suggestions on what I should try or who I should see next?

I am 23, have 3 kids and recently had my tubes cut. I was experiencing abdomonal pain and constipation before and while I was pregnant with my 3rd child, extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, extreme depression, can't sleep, and hair loss. This all started before I got pregnant. My blood pressure is always slightly low and I went to the doctor and he told me my potassium was HIGH (hpyercalemia), which causes low blood pressure, so I watched my diet and didn't eat potassium and I got somewhat better. He also said I had IBS because of constipation, but now my son is 4 months old and I am getting sick again with the same symptons except now I have dry mouth, itchy throat, stomach ache, back pain, headaches every day, spotting after my period, loss of appetite and stomach pain when I do eat, hot flashes, sweating, sleeplessness, more hair loss and more severe depression. I just took a nap cause I just couldn't hold my head up any longer and my husband watched the kids. I am also taking Anatomy classes and was reading about the thyroid gland and I had about 95% of the symptons associated with a thyroid problem. It said 29 million Americans have thyroid problems and most don't even know. I also wonder if it is from drinking too much caffeine because today I drank coffee, diet coke (dont drink it regularly) and a red bull cause I feel so bad but it made me feel a lot worse, of course. I drink 1-2 cups of coffee every day.
Here is my list of what all I use:
Flintstone vitamins
Coffee
Crystal light (sometimes after I drink it, I don't feel so well)
Garnier shampoo and conditioner
Crest toothpaste (which I've noticed my stomach hurts worse after I use it)
Cherry blossom shower gel (Dollar general brand)
Olay face cleanser and age cream
Maxy pads and tampax tampons
--So very sorry everyone is having these same symptons!
