herpes, yeast infection or something else? Sores discharge and swelling

Hello everyone :) 

So have had a really sore vagina for a few days. It first started 4 days ago.. My on / off again boyfriend is overseas for a few months so we had been having pretty crazy and frequent sex that seems to last forever. We were doing it the other day, when he flipped me over to such an angle that the friction kind of hurt me but we kept going anyway. We had been at it for so long that I was dry. So the day after, the base of my vagina closest to my anus (perineum) was chapped and sore (it has happened before so I didn't really think much of it). 3 days ago we had sex where I was on top which seemed to really aggravate it, but not to the point of stopping. 

Later that night I got a mirror down to check it. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a little swelling and soreness. I also want to add that it has been very hot here and I just assumed that the heat and sweat combined with walking further aggravated it. 

Yesterday at work I noticed that there was A LOT of discharge, kind of watery to the point where it soaked my underwear but also with a white milky tinge. It was really uncomfortable and caused my undies to chafe me even more because the area was so moist. I couldn't really 'sort myself out' either because I was at work! I just had to endure the discomfort. There has been no vaginal discharge odor out of the ordinary thus far. 

In the evening, I decided to have a closer look.... And to my dismay found several sores on the inside of my labia minora. They don't look like blisters but rather really angry pimples covered in white clingy discharge. The most painful part however, was my perineum at the base of my vagina which also had these little sores kind of inside close to my vagina. 

Apart from all the dampness caused by the discharge, I noticed that the edges are really swollen, dry and firm to touch. My labia minora seem a little dry too (on the edges, not on the inside beacause of all the discharge). 

I went to the doctor's this morning, and she took a swab test. She also prescribed me herpes medication to get a jump start on it while waiting for test results. The wait is absolutely freaking me out!!!!!

Are herpes usually localized to one are (ie the moist inner part of my labia minora / perenium)? Shouldn't it have spread everywhere else since I have been touching it heaps (before I knew there were sores)? I don't sleep with underwear on and usually have a little scratch at night, most likely rubbing my eyes or whatever ahha. Wouldn't my man have broken out too because we had sex while it felt aggravated? And wouldn't I have it on my mouth / bum / skin considering his penis probably touched me everywhere? Plus shouldn't he have it on his mouth?

I have been tested in the past for STI's and everything came back negative. This guy was the first person I have had unprotected sex with since. I fully understand that you can catch it from your partner who might not have any visible symptoms, but should he have flared up especially since we had sex when I was experiencing them? 

Is vaginal dryness usually a symptom of herpes or more a vaginal infection such as thrush etc? There has been no itching, just intense paaain and swelling of my perineum and labia minora. Could the sores have resulted from a combination of friction during rough sex, the heat and my constantly moist underwear?

Please help me, any input would greatly be appreciated! I got the prescription for valacyclovir this morning and it seems too early to tell whether it has helped - although symptoms do seem worse now than they did this morning.
