Hello there,
Ferritin is a protein that binds with iron and in the human body ferritin acts as a buffer against iron deficiency and iron surplus. Rise or fall of ferritin level can result in various health issues. Normal ferritin count is 30-300 ng/mL for men and 15-200 ng/mL for women.
The high ferritin level symptoms usually go unnoticed in the beginning but afterwards elevated ferritin blood levels can cause for example pain in the joints because iron is depositing in the body. It is also causing darkening of the skin and lethargy, fatigue, pain in the abdomen, lack of sex drive and various cardiac issues.
Treatment for high ferritin levels is focused on reducing its levels and bringing it back to normal.
