hi. a few months ago i found a small hole in the middle of my butt cheeks. its not a pimple because it isnt raised. when i squeezed it, brown smelly puss came out of it. it then went away and didnt hurt me for a while but now it has come back and hurts when i sit down. any ideas what it is???please help asap!!!

Hi this sounds like a Pilonidal cyst or sinus which is an abscess (localized collection of pus).These cysts develop when a dead hair or hairs are pushed into the skin forming a canal or passage. This sinus then becomes infected as more debris collects in it. The most common place for a pilonidal cyst to develop is in the skin over the tailbone, just over the cleft in the buttocks. Friction and pressure on the area aggravate the condition along with the presence of bacteria. you need to see your doctor as soon as possible as these are notoriously difficult to treat once they have taken a hold. These are indeed boils or localized collections of pus, If you can you should drain them of all infection and make use of cleaning it well with warm soapy water. If it doesnt clear up or you start getting a high fever due to infection induced shock you should see a doctor ASAP

Hi, yes it's a Pilonidal abcsess, i have one as well and it was very painful as there was alot of pressure on it, then it burst and took 2 weeks to drain completely. You need to see a doctor and get it lanced and drained properly or it will just keep returning. It doesn't hurt and is totally worth it. Good luck!!

I had that. My Dr drained it but it came back. Turns out it was a anal fistual I had to have surgery. It was pretty painful sit. Once I had the sugary I was fine.

I had that! I stitched mine up, but then my stomach hurt and and when I went to sit down the stitches ripped and brown pus exploded everywhere like an empty can of whipped cream.

A little over a month ago I had a pilonidal cyst removed, only I never had any drainage until a few days before my checkup. But once it drained, I had to have a pantyliner for two days because it was constantly draining that whole time. It was white, yellow, and bloody :-( nasty nasty stuff. But now its gone and everything is fine, I had a hole about 2 inches long and now, a month later, the hole is smaller than a dime. One thing about pilonidal cysts though.....they are Literally a pain in the ass.
