I read somewhere that cyclist’s bodyweight is very important and the lighter the rider is, the faster he will get. I am not sure what to think about that. I am not exactly lightweight yet I managed to win several races. Are they right? How bodyweight is important for cycling?

Well, it depends on your body structure. If you weigh 220 pounds with 30-40 pounds of it as fat tissue is not the same as if you had only couple of pounds of fat while also weighing 220 pounds. So if you are pure muscle than it doesn’t matter how heavy you are. The more muscle mass, the greater power, speed and endurance. On the other hand if your extra pounds come from fat then you can benefit from losing them.
