Tell yourself that just one more will damage many more of your brain cells and that you refuse to have any more of your life stolen from you..

also you have to go through the horrible withdrawals again.( wouldn't it be good if there were warnings on every bottle or commercial that portrays all of the good times about the horrors of alcohol ). Also look at research about effects on your body such as wet brain syndrome, liver disease, depletion of vitamins and mineral..it is a deadly poison.

I have read that depletion of the B vitamins can contribute to anxiety and some re-habs use vitamin and amino acid therapy to help treat. I know that they have recovering addicts to take a good multi- vitiman.

Does anyone know if you experience mental confusion with alcohol withdrawals after 10 days? Also what other symptoms after this time? Thanks

Thank you, I have purchased a multivitamin and thiamine supplement, and alternate between both.

Thank you, I'm keeping it. Right now the confussion and dizziness is much less, and the little dizziness I have is said to be caused by the alprazolam they prescribed to help with the anxiety. What I'm concerned about right now is, my heart beat is a little irregular. It goes really fast sometimes if I exert myself sometimes in the least. I went to see the cardiologist, and he found that I have a 'disrythmia' and says he believes its a direct effect of the withdrawal, and that I wasnt at risk of heart attack at this time, this is what my echo showed. And everytime they check my signs, and my heart beat is accelerated, my blood pressure is normal and my oxygen level is as well, so they believe it is psychosomatic. I don't believe I've been properly diagnosed or treated, so I continually try to help and inform myself. I don't know if it might be a result of vitamin b1 (thiamine) deficiency. So I bought a supplement, but dont want to over do it either, cause I read it can also be bad for you to exceed the daily dose of such b vitamins.

Yes, it happened to me as well. Not at all a pleasant feeling. It should improve with time though. By my 3rd week I felt much better regarding that. I believe the medication for the anxiety helped me much, though I'm taking a very low dose of it.

I'm happy to hear this Sally, and yes, you can make it if you have the will. I'm considering attending a group myself.

Thanks to whoever posted the tip about B-1 in this thread.
And thanks to all the other posters.
While B vitamins are supposed to be water soluable and the excess flushed from your body, I have read that Thiamin Mononitrate, the most common form of synthetic Thiamine(B-1) is actually fat soluable and can build up in the body.

Most rehabs do want you to participate in a group. groups help you to stay accountable in addition to being able to relate to those you can identify with .I spoke with

National Alcoholism and substance Abuse Information Center..

800-784-6776 and they were helpful as far as suggestions but, of course are not allowed to give medical advice..keep up the good work and one step closer!
