I started taking a couple norco a day which escalated into a 25+ per day addiction. i couldnt get out of bed unless i had my drugs. This is all self perscribed also. i mean i was going out chasing these drugs on the street. It was costing me over 150$ a day. finally i was deciding weather i was going to go find some heroin or kill myself. That is what it came down to. let me add, i had a 3.5 gpa and was the homcoming king at my local highschool. I got into college and found that i could get norcos whenever i wanted. haha AWSOME!!!! yeah right. i just decided that i would google opiate help and suboxone popped up. i have been on subonxone for about 6 months and am down to 2mgs a day. i plan on moving to 1 mg a day then 1mg every other day. i think this will be the least painful way but i am wondering if anyone has any other advise. i would greatly appreciate any advice. suboxone gave me a chance to learn how to live like a normal part of society. so if you guys say that suboxone is terrible, its not. i havent had to spend more than 30$ a month to get my subs and i dont wake up in withdrwawals anymore. Life is good!

I am a student and have been addicted to roxycodone and morphine for about 2 and a hakf years. I take around 3 30 mg tablets three times a day, and have been weening down. Tried methadone-hated it. I want to know something: if I get on suboxine, is it replacement therapy? Or can it actually get me OFF this hell. I can't do this anymore. Everything is so horrible, everything is like fire....help.

Hi,
I was looking for some help and found this board. I was on opiates for 10+ years and got sick of it, so after careful research found a subone program. I have been on it for over 2 years and have to come off of it. My doctor is one hour from me, and as I am in college and working I simply have no time and have missed appts. so was discharged from the program. Today is my one week anniversary off it. Its certainly not easy. The worst of it is I cant think clearly which is not good as it it finals time and I have a big presentation to give. It would kill me to mess up now as I am supposed to graduate in May. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I was put on suboxone for depression. After a few weeks, it really kicked in. I felt great, a little too good, but I loved it. That lasted four months. Then my depression came back and stayed nine months. During that time, I was treating sub like the opiate that it is. I couldn't wait to get home and dose up so I felt better for the evening and slept hard at night.
Well, the depression lifted last September. Since my depressions seemed to come and go independent of sub, I decided to start tapering from the 16mg per day dose. I was sick on-and-off during the taper process. My doc first had me go from 4mg to 0mg and I got extremely dopesick; after 3 days, I called the doc and he said we'll do a slower taper. Then we went from 1mg to 0mg. I got just as sick, but was determined to stick it out. Day 12 of not being well enough to work was all I could take. I had to borrow money to pay my mortgage and the nausea, nervousness, fatigue, insomnia was making me crazy. That was yesterday and now I'm back on 0.75mg twice a day and all symptoms are gone; I'm going to taper even more slowly. I really hate that I'm so physically addicted to this drug. My doc always minimized the withdrawals, but apparently severe, long-lasting w/d are the norm for long-term use of sub. Of course, everybody is different, but a lot of people get very sick because the drug has a long half-life just like methdone, which is also hard to quit.
If I had been informed of the chances of withdrawal at the beginning, I would not have chosen to start it, because a few months earlier I had gone thru severe opiate w/d when I was suddenly taken off I-V dilaudid after 11 days and back surgery.
Sub may be a great drug for 7 to 21 -day detoxes from severe opiate habits, but only in rare cases should it be used on a maintenance basis because it causes strong physical dependence, worse than drugs that get you high. If possible, just taper on your drug-of-choice and don't get involved in methadone or suboxone replacement-drug therapy. If you start sub for an "off label" use, just know that either you stay on it, pupils pinned, forever, or you will go thru long-lasting withdrawals of varying severity when you quit.
I hope all make wise decisions.

:-D I wasn't able to get off on my own, as strong as I thought I was. A friend mentioned ibogaine treatment. I researched it and a few days later was on a plane to San Diego. It is illegal in the U.S., but legal in many other countries, including Mexico and Canada. We crossed the border to the clinic near Tijuana. The experience was amazing! It works!!! A few hours after the first dose, all withdrawals disappeared. The psychedelic part helped me deal with some issues. The experience changed my life.
Highly recommended.

Anybody who doesn't know if suboxone should be given to you...trying to get off heroin...Yes...but give only when you feel like you need it. If you start feeling withdrawl symptoms, take a quater piece. Suboxones are highly addictive as well so limit yourself. Good luck for those with an addiction. <3

Suboxone also cured my anxiety which was the main reason I think I started snorting Oxy's for a couple years. I started taking Suboxone 5 years ago and had probably the best three years of my life. I met a girl and we had a baby life was going great. I started on 16 mg's and gradually tapered down over a 3 year period to take .5 mg twice daily. I was ready to get off. I got off and was sick as a dog and just didn't want to deal with it over the summer when I could have been doing tons of different things besides sweating it out on the couch. So I decided to go back to the doctor. Except this time I went to a different doctor and was started right back on the 16 mg dose which at the time was getting me high as hell considering I was used to taking 1 mg a day. I thought I would be able to save a bunch of pills. Well to make a long story short didn't happen and over time when they tried to taper me once again I just couldn't do it so I was coming up short every single month which led to me buying it off the street. But I'm over it now. My last script was for 3 2mg pills per day. I had taken all those in 14 days. So I'm coming off about 12 mg a day habit. Right now I'm in my 11th day. I've had some bad days but things have really started to get better. So getting off suboxone is not helpless but it is very addictive. My advice is tough it out after the taper and forget about it. If I would have done that I'd be in much better shape today.

Just in case anyone reads this person's message...............
I'll just go straight down the list of things that are wrong with what this person said. I have chronic and severe panic disorder. Suboxone is NOT a proper medication for treating anxiety disorders. Suboxone is predominately used for "treating" opioid addiction. Suboxone usage will most definitely build up a tolerance in a person, and very quickly. In fact, as with any opiate, tolerance is built at the first "taste" of the medication. MOST IMPORTANTLY IT SHOULD BE POINTED OUT THAT : You can DEFINITELY overdose on suboxone. In fact, it's quite dangerous. Suboxone can cause respiratory depression which can result in death. Furthermore, suboxone's peak effects may last from eight to twelve hours. It is an extremely long lasting drug. This makes it even more dangerous, in that, if one does experience respiratory depression, they must keep themselves awake for a longer period of time (to avoid dying). If one experiences respiratory depression, you must do whatever you can to stay awake. Ideally you should go to the doctor/hospital. If you cannot see a medical professional for any reason, turn on the lights, drink a bit of caffeine, and keep yourself busy until the medication has completely worn off. In summation, suboxone can be extremely dangerous, so please take with caution.
As a note... this person's anxiety could not have been cured with suboxone. He/she may, however, felt cured while on suboxone, considering the acute euphoric opioid effects.
Be safe!

Suboxoen works different for everyone! all in all it really does help! Ur not suppose to snort them like the one person said. U dont even need to take it everyday! I was taking 230 mgs of metadone daily for over a year. And so i wouldn't lose my family and my jobs had to stop it! I went cold turkey for bout 5 days and was hurting really bad! Never to doc just got a couple off the street. I bought bout 4 8mgs Suboxoen. and still have 2 3 weeks later. It helps alot when i feel weak but really thats it! Everyone really just needs to find another addiction like working out running or something that gets ur blood pumping! Something that makes ur body get the chills! Dont get me wrong i still have my bad days, but just thinking 1 bad day and 6 good days is way worth it in the long run! Im not taking anything at all! And i promise i was taking alot of sh*t everyday fo a long time. And i kept telling myself ill stop soon but i couldnt untill the most important person in my life caught me! She said that sh*t or us 3! Well when that was put on my plate i made my decision. Either never see the 3 most beautiful girls again or stop doing what i was doing. Which i did stop with the help of suboxoen. But u dont need do it for that long. just pretty much till you can take the withdrawls, which is what i did! good luck to everyone and always remember you all r way to strong enough not to take anything.
