I took a lot of meth back in 1990 and overdosed. Afterward I had panic attacks every day. that was 20 some years ago and it changed my life forever. First of all at that time, no doctors would listen to me. I was told by one, that there are children suffering in the world and I am not worth it. I used alcohol to ease the panic and then became an alcoholic. With the indulgence of alcohol, eventually I became a diabetic. I'm 46 now and was 20 when I overdosed. It has been pure hell. I tried to kill myself a number of times. I ruined every relationship I was ever in. I lost family love and now I still have anxiety. My life was ruined that year. If there is a way I can help you to stop please reply. It's not worth it at all.

Hello mitchy .. Im writing to you for my son. He's been off meth for 3 months and that's been the pattern.. Using it for about 5 years every 3 to 4 mo. But his anxiety is over the roof, tried prescription drugs. Made him vulnerable only to use again..he cant get out of his head. We practice a more natural approach. But has 0 confidence, worried ALL the time paranoid.. He's 27.. How does the hypnosis work.. Thank you for your blog and congratulations on your recovery.

It is commonly known that methamphetamine induces anxiety (anxiety attacks) and that it can persist for years after cessation due to structural damage to specific areas of the brain (frontal lobes and limbic structures). It is also known that the damage, though partial recovery is possible, is for the most part, permanent. Methamphetamine literally rewires key structures in the limbic system, i.e,, the amygdala (which is extremely important to controlling your emotions) and the hippocampus (which is extremely important for learning, memory formation and retrieval). The damage done to the brain is additive. Therefore, each time you use meth, you are increasing the damage already done. The anxiety and paranoia you are experiencing will likely be permanent and medication to help with the symptoms will, at best, only take the edge off so that you will be able to function on a day to day basis. Unfortunately, meth tends to destroy parts of the dopamine and serotonin pathways in your brain as well as damage and destroy receptor sites. You need those same receptor sites for the medication to bind at in order to reduce the symptoms. Hence. at best, they will only take edge off, because there are not enough healthy receptor sites left to permanently get rid of the symptoms. STOP the meth immediately.

Holy sh*t spot on. I wondered about pot. I've been dealing with the anxiety and smoking pot. I thought I was crazy thinking my anxiety like doubles or triples after smoking. I'm here now high and experiencing mega anxiety. I've only used M a few times in my life but I recently did a little for 3 days in a row. Hoping it will wear off (anxiety) at some point because it's bad. Had more than a few panic attacks when at the DMV yesterday. f*****g blows. And the meth wasn't even good. Speedy but no euphoria.
