My son has been born with hydrocele and a friend of mine said that it could be due to some kind of syndrome, I didn’t catch the name. She got me really worried because the doctors told me this happens and that they will take care of it. I am really scared now since my friend told me that this syndrome has something to do with genes mutations and may cause other problems with loose skin and stuff. I am afraid that the doctors wouldn’t tell me this. Can you give me more information? Thank you

The syndrome your friend was talking about was probably The Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. You should check if anybody from your and your partner’s family had such a disorder as it is usually inherited. This disorder affects structure and function of collagen and may cause problems with connective tissues in the body making them very weak.
I am sure that doctors wouldn’t lie to you and that they would tell you if this were the case. You should know that there are different causes of hydrocele.
As for the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, you should know that there are many types of this disorder and you may mention it to the doctors if it would make you calmer. If they suspect anything like this, they may perform a skin biopsy to evaluate it.
