I had my thyroid removed about 7 weeks ago. I had a 5 cm plus multi nodular goiter (which seemed still to be growing) and my thyroid function was subclinically hyper. So after having had it for many years we decided that it would probably be good to take it out while I am in good health (67 yrs old). All went well - it was benign. My calcium levels were low after the operation and I took a supplement for the first week although the surgeon took me off it when she prescribed .125 mg thyroxine supplement. I went back after 6 weeks and my TSH was 0.3 so she reduced the thyroxine to .112 and I have had that for a few days. Although my lips have been a bit numb and dryish since the TT it is only now that I feel the need to swallow a lot as if my throat were swollen. This does not affect my eating but I find I am gulping a lot. Is this to do with the low levels of TSH (I had lower ones before the op though without experiencing this) or something else. Thanks for any suggestions.
