ADD/ADHD meds have terrible ongoing side affects, including fatigue at the end of day. Try 5HTP supplement in the morning and take half of your synthetic thyroid in the morning & half during mid day. Fatigue is an awful feeling which leads people into eating and going to bed. Hence, gain more fat/weight which can lead to diabetes and high blood pressure.
Plus, have to have a healthy diet with more good fats, less bad fats, no white bread products, no gluten, cooked vegetables, no white sugar or high fructose corn syrup & leave out caffeinated drinks. Our lives and health can be a vicious cycle that beats us down. Especially, women. We need to be more understanding of others not feeling well and forgetting things and making some mistakes. They could have a thyroid problem and not aware of it. Encourage your doctors to have your thyroid hormone levels tested. T4 levels should be below 4.0. Doctors wait until it's above 5.0 to say anything.

That's interesting. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which caused my Hypothyroidism. I take Adderall daily to be able to focus at work, but I also take the beta blocker Atenolol to help with my blood pressure. If I don't take my Atenolol I can't handle the Adderall because my heart rate speeds up too much. I took Synthroid for years and never felt better. My TSH was normal, but I still had all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I recently changed doctor's and she prescribed Nature-Throid and it's helped quite a bit. It's natural hormone, not synthetic like Synthroid and it's a combination of T3 and T4. T3 is helpful because it sort of jump starts your thyroid. Your thyroid uses T4 (thyroxine) and converts it to T3 so that your body can use it more efficiently. If your thyroid is fatigued, it won't always convert the T4 to T3 efficiently which is why some people have normal TSH levels, but still suffer all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Going through all the same menopause, ADD and hypothyroidism. Just started on Adderall a week ago. Already able to concentrate more on tasks already remembering things as I could not before. Also what seems to be a great feature is I'm not freezing anymore from my thyroid when I take Adderall. So, things are looking up.

That's a total lie. You can take adderall with an interactive thyroid. I've been doing it for 4 years! Please don't post lies to confuse people.

Well, glad I am not alone. 61 and diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year, ADD a few months ago. I just want to know if I can take the Adderall at the same time I take my levothyroxine. Also, should I be waiting to take my multivitamin? This is crazy.

Ridelin is better for people with heart conditions than adderall. Although for me Ridelin gave me heart attack systems I ended up in the ER. I took adderall for about 3/4 weeks found out I was pregnant and my thyroid was way out of wack. I am starting to think it may have been from the adderall. I stopped adderall due to pregnancy although "u can take it when pregnant". I am now up to 200 micrograms of synthesis which my midwife says she usually does not exceed 175 with pregnant woman. I am getting referred back to an endocrinologist 16 years after radioactive iodine treatment for Graves' disease. My thyroid condition has ruined my life. I have a hard time focusing, sleeping, being happy, I have severe temper tantrums even still at 32. I just never feel good or happy. I am going to have my insulin checked for diabetes, maybe they are coexisting and I'm not properly medicated??
