i just want to know what is it in hypothyroidism that the patient could have a GI Complications

The only GI complications that can occur from untreated hypothyroid is slow metabolism because this is the main purpose of the thyroid gland and hormones. When there aren’t adequate levels of the hormone, the process of metabolism may be slowed.

Patients usually have problems with losing weight as they gain it with no special reason and may become constipated as hypothyroid slows the actions of the digestive tract. Sometimes it happens that a person gets stuck with non moving contents.

Have you been diagnosed with hypothyroid? All of your negative symptoms should subside once you get your hormonal levels under control.

Hi there,
Underactive thyroid is also known as hypothyroidism. This condition is caused by the small production of thyroid hormone which can affect many aspects of your life. The thing is that sometimes you will have problems with tiredness and constipation along with headaches and shortness of breath. As much as I know the constipation is the only problem that you can experience when you have issues with hypothyroidism. I am not sure if constipation happens to often when you have underactive thyroid. You will notice also pain in your muscles. There is a chance also that you will have unwanted weight gain. You should pain attention to your diet as much as you can.

All the best,
Danella
