I get excrutiating upper thigh leg camps which are so painful that I can't put any weight on my leg until they go away.  I also get occasional cramps in other leg or foot muscles but those I seem to be able to work out.  The upper thigh ones fan out so there is no one muscle to massage and I just have to wait until they go away.  For me, dehydration and possibly sugar along with awkward movements tend to set them off.  I've discovered that if I eat a banana right when they start, they only last a couple of minutes.  I might try pickle juice.  A doctor who wrote a comment below and also suffers from these cramps said that the pickle juice (or a banana in my case) wouldn't work that fast and, basically, only works because the user wants it to work.  I beg to differ. I've tried Gator-Ade and other hydration drinks with no immediate success.  For some reason, the banana and it's glorious potassium hits my system immediately!

Hi, guest.

It's good to hear that you have found some relief for your upper thigh leg cramps with a banana. While the mechanism of action for why bananas work quickly for some people is not well understood, they are known to be a good source of potassium, which can help to regulate muscle function and prevent cramps.

Other things that you can do to prevent leg cramps include staying hydrated, stretching before and after exercise, avoiding tight or restrictive clothing, and maintaining a healthy diet that includes adequate amounts of potassium, magnesium, and calcium.

Have you found anything else to be efficient?
