I'm 19 years of age. I had my tonsils out on Friday, I didn't take pain killers as I was hardly in pain and was told to not take them if I didn't (although they were for sure I would have needed to take them). I was eating and drinking plenty and stuck to the diet which the doctors gave to me. 5 days later I was spitting blood clots, after spitting up 6 I was physically being sick thick black blood, I instantly went to A&E. There I was rushed into emergency patients, they quickly realised I had an infection. I was hooked up to heart machines, had fluids of antibiotics, pain relief and water into my systems, after 2 restless hours of gargling fluids to block my blood cells from bleeding, pain relief to help me, 5 doctors and nurses decided to operate to seal back up the wounds, I spent another night in the hospital, this was now 5 days ago from the second operation, I have stuck to the same diet and taking my antibiotics. I don't take pain killers as I am not in that much pain I'm still eating and drinking just the odd pain in my left ear from time to time but the pain is manageable. I may still have to go back for a blood transfusion due to loosing 3+ pints of blood from being sick. If I could go back and not have them taken out I would have. I'm having to take 3 weeks off work and my body is under a large amount of stress. I would recommend for people to avoid the operation as everything that possibly could have gone wrong With me and my situation dos, even though I applied everything I was advised too.
