but when my period started this today at about noon I was in a ton of pain, bled a little and now 12 hours later I am not bleeding at all. could this be a sign that the egg is being fertilized?

I don't think cause it's only been 2 days since you had sex, also you got your period, sometimes they are lighter at night and come back the next day. You might want to feel your cervix position, if it is open that is more confirmation that you are not preg, best of luck, Liz
