So I have a third kidney. All I remember about it (I was told this like 8 or 9 years ago) is that it is small and on the left side. I apparently inherited it from my mother, who inherited it from her father. It's so weird, I didn't know you could inherit something like that.
When I was 8, I had to go to the hospital because I was throwing up everything I ate and had a lot of fevers and it hurt to pee. It turned out I had a kidney/bladder infection (I don't remember which it was). This was caused by a problem with the tubes connecting my kidneys and my bladder. They are supposed to open, let urine pass to the bladder, and then close. Mine, however, opened, let urine pass to the bladder, stayed open, and let that urine pass right back up into my kidney. They fixed the problem, but I've always kind of wondered if my third kidney had anything to do with it.
Any thoughts?
