I have been on thi spain medication for 5 years now and my docter keeps increasing the dosage it started with 5's then went to 7.5's went from 3 a day to 5 a day. yesterday I had a momentary time of clearity and decided to get the hell off of this stuff. this has to be one of the toughest things i have done. i took one at 4 am yesterday and was able to hold off until 2:30 pm before taking another but i was in serious pain by then. i do not think it was my body's actual pain that i started taking them for but more of a pain as if my nerves were waking back up. my body felt like it was on fire and started getting the sweats, stomach aches as well as all of my body hurting as if i was in a car wreck and was not wearing a seat belt. i woke up a couple of times last night in extrusiating pain through out my whole body took a shower and a IBU and finally got back to sleep. I still havent taken one know that I am on Day 2 trying to make it a whole 24 hours but i am definatly feeling all of the pains that i was feeling last night. Ben Gay seems to help a little with this as well as the IBU. but i am trying to do this on my own my wife has no idea what i am doing as well as anyone else. i think the hardest thing is the mental part i am constatntly thinking about it and i am at work trying to maintain a daily life style. I have cronick back and knee pain and i will take that pain any day before i have to go through this again. this is absolutly terrible.

Wonderful choice. Stick to it, the pain lessens, it's just that your pain threshold was reduced from so much pain medication, but your tolerance will build back up and you will eventually need the same dose you started with. This is now illegal in the US, prescribing elevating doses of pain meds, as they found that long term pain med use made things worse.

Hang in there. I am happy for you and the decision you made. It will benefit you in the LNG term.
