From what I know, methadone is just as addicitve as heroine and it still gives you that "high"... do you really want to do this??? It is true that at least with methadone if you're getting it from a clinic, they have you on a program to where they're slowly decreasing you and you're going in the right direction. Are you getting the methadone from a clinic? I never did heroine but was taking 15-20 750ml vicodine a day. I went to a methadone clinic for help... did that for a year and than went to a doctor for suboxone. Maybe you're not taking enough suboxone to control your cravings? I know that when I went from the methadone to suboxone, I was taking 24ml of suboxone a day... 3 of the large 8ml pills... they say that anymore than that doesn't make a difference. Almost six years later (which is way too long to be taking suboxone by the way), I'm now down to 3ml a day. I've never heard of anyone going from suboxone back to methadone but, if you really want to wean yourself off of the drugs, in my opinion, I would stick with the suboxone and possibly just up the dose. Good luck my friend! Peace and light.

I meant this response for another post. I don't know how it ended up as a reply to your post. From what I have read, the withdrawal symptoms can last for quite awhile... up to two months for the severe withdrawals and up to a year before you feel completely normal. Don't let this stop you from quitting though! It's not going to stop me. I've been on 3ml for the past year or so and have just dropped to 2ml today. I feel fine. I'll continue to decrease week by week until I'm ready for what they call the "jump"... the day that you quit and jump to being sub free. I found this site (attached below), and it has really helped me out on how to taper and what to expect. Whoever wrote this has a very optimistic outlook and I personally like it. There are so many horrible stories about withdrawals... on the net and YouTube. I'd rather stay positive and hope for the best.
