This happens to me every day. I typically only notice it after blowing my nose - and only in one nostril.

This has been going on for a few months. I've also noticed my mucus is a greenish color- but not all of the time. I live in the desert, and suffer from allergies. I take Sudafed daily to help control the allergies (prescribed by my doctor).

I'm wondering if there is some type of cyst in the nostril which is infected?

After reading through the comments here, I'll definitely mention to my doctor as I am on many medications. I would hate for this to be a warning sign from my kidneys which I then ignore.

Wow, this is all very interesting, validating and helpful. I suspect the adrenal factor is true in my case. I take an adrenal support supplement purchased through my acupuncturist.

I also wonder if perenopausal nightsweats give off that odor. I sometimes smell it after a night of heavy sweating. But I also smell it at random times almost everywhere in my house. I know it’s not on me at those points. ( I don’t have seriou hot flashes right now and I shower and wash my sheets immediately after getting up). Oy, it’s like being a baby.

Side note- it actually smells a bit more like cat urine than human. Crazy. Yes, we have no cats.

Well anyway, these posts have shed some light so thank you all

Could be linked to Phantosmia which is something I suffer from although I don't get the smell of urine but rather cigarette smoke. There are different odors that people smell and urine could be one of them. Just Google Phantosmia for a quick explanation on what it is.

One kidney doctor says that patients who smell urine have to live with it and that there is no answer to it. I think that is so frustrating and disappointing. But I think there must be an answer with medicine has become more advanced than ever.

I have the same issue for the past 2+ years. It drives me crazy! I’m 62 yrs old been through all the menopause stuff, like you very clean but it pops up occasionally and very unexpectedly. When it does, it is so strong I can hardly stand it. I’ve asked my husband, my daughter if she comes over if they smell the odor and the say “no”... this drives me crazy also. I need to find a solution. Help!!!

This is a brand new phenomenon to me, just in the last month. My husband and I had a really bad case of 1st time Covid. We are senior citizens, so it hit us hard. This sensation of smelling urine has increased to the point of irritation as to why. Could this be a by-product of having Covid?
