I'm almost 4 weeks after having a full rotated cuff repair, bone spur and 1/3 of my clavicle removed. I've been in an immobilizer sling and am having the immobilizer removed in 3 days and my shoulder will be force moved. I will then be put in a regular sling for 3 more weeks before my PT starts. My question is today, I dropped my phone and did a "knee jerk" reaction and jerked my arm trying to keep it from falling. This sent a horrible burning sensation through my shoulder that lasted a minute to 90 seconds. Gawd, I'm praying I didn't injure the surgery site... I iced it down and will be staying home from work tomorrow to give it a good rest. Should I contact my doctor? I see him in three days. Nervous wreck tonight..

Normally during this surgery the way things are repair are much more stable and strong than one can think of! Also the pain you feel after surgery doing some movements can be disproportionally big in relation to sometimes a very simple movement. The fact that you are supposed to take it off in 3 days also means that you’re probably ok to go on without it ( of course you’ll some physiotherapy). Reading your description I think nothing really so bad has happened but answering your question YES you should contact your doctor today and ask his opinion. First because he is the specialist and second because he can give you some tips about what to do it now.
