Are you sure it is coming from your urethra? The color you describe reminds me of how older tissues/blood from menstruation looks when knocked loose during sex. It is often a brownish color. Penetrative sex sometimes scrapes residual tissues off the lining of your vagina. It could be that some left over lining from your last period did not quite clear. Come to think about it, I think I have seen something like that at the beginning of one after we just had sex. As a male I have no direct experience, but I these are things I have seen.
By red you mean you had a little blood? If this is a continuing problem: Fresh, dry, or tarry? Can you tell specifically where it is coming from?

Maybe your body is trying to have a period. My wife tells me she has had times where a little blood, pinkish red as you described, for a while and for some reason just couldn't get it started. It kicked in the day she has a pap done but quit early. But she often has irregular periods. This is all she can think of right now. That might be important, do you normally have a very regular period?
Can you afford to go to the doctor? It really wouldn't hurt to ask her. It is probably nothing to worry about, but until it goes away or you find out what it is, that is exactly what you will do. Worry.

Many doctor offices/clinics have a sliding scale system based on your income. Even if you don't qualify, after explaining the situation, many offices will bill you at the same rate that insurance companies pay them. See, to add insult to injury, the insurance companies actually pay less (much less) than regular patients. It is part of their contract.
So you go in without insurance and pay $100. Now rewind and go in with insurance, the bill you see is the same $100, but the insurance company doesn't actually pay that amount, instead of $100 they may get away with paying only $60.
So the office pretends you have insurance and charges you what insurance actually would have paid. Your local county health clinic may be your best bet, but if you have a doctor you like, tell their office the situation and see what they can do for you.
