Ask your doctor to write you a prescription for doxycycline 150 mg once a day, and some topical antibiotic ointment (gentamycin) a few times a day. If the hair is deep you're going to need a systemic antibiotic (a pill). Using a needle or knife to lance it can make it worse, and even get more infected.
If the pill doesn't work, then the other option is for the dermatologist to cut it out (yikes).

I completely understand what you're saying... I've tried doing the same thing cause i was too embarressed to go to the doctor. I finally went and they removed it but it was traumatic... now I have another one forming out of nowhere and would like to find some other way to make it go away and haven't succeeded. I've tried that antibiotic ointment and it doesn't work.. I've tried everything and it doesn't work!!!! I need help to so if anybody knows ANYTHING please let me know

I recently just felt one come back it is always one not a cluster so I hope to god it isn't an STD mine is flesh tone or a lol red I took a needle to it first came puss then blood, kept squeezing till the blood stoped, then checked it 15 minutes later And it seemed like the blood filled the bump up again, so I once again plopped it and it's 1/4 the size of the original. Did anyone elses feel like it was attached to like a vein and it felt like something under the skin u could mover around but always went back to it's original position?

Found a hard shiny red bump on my penis, and when squeezed and touched it felt hard like a vessel or something.... completely annoying. after a week and still aint gone down,m i decided to squeeze it! it wasnt too sore just really embarassing
some like white stuff came out (sebum) following some dark red blood..... then after the blood had stopped some like clear liquid is coming out. now it has gone done in size and left a dark red nearly black little spot where i popped it! may be dried blood. but cant decide if it is an ingrown hair..... i have put cream on it and hopefully should clear up. i went to the doctors and showed them and they said does not look worrying. i was perscribed some anti-biotics just in case and on a 7 day course. got a STI test this week just be safe!

Wow I wish I'd found this thread a few years ago.
I had something form on the head of my penis which I squeezed a few times and white sh*t came out each time but it kept reforming. eventually it started getting massive.. I bit the bullet and spoke to my dad who was really good about it, and took me to the doctor. Its pretty funny when the doctor tells you to drop your dacks, I have only really seen that happen in seedy movies where the doctor is a pervert. Turned out it was a cerbasius cyst (thats not how you spell it but you get the drift). Had to get it operated on.. got put to sleep n sh*t wasn't fun. 5 stitches in my penis. Made for a cool scar though...

If only i would of known about this site years ago. wish i would of known not to use tweezer, been dong that for a long time...very painful especailly when you pull out an inlong hair that decited to go try to come out the other side. word of advice from someone who has used tweezer and needles in the past DONT it hurts and its not fun putting something sharp there. Another reason why you should do that is becasue there are little veins that run all over you penis and they do look like thick hairs....dont pull on them they dont come out. the warm towel idea sound so much better then anything i've done. thanks for the advice.

A doctor came by, this nice woman who was a part-time volunteer medical student. She asked me what happened and rattled off a few questions. She thought I had a great bill of health.
She inspected my penis, saw what I saw and said it doesn't look like herpes. She asked if she could squeeze it to see if it popped. I said yes and then pus came out of the bump. Based on her professional experience, it was an ingrown hair or cyst. Not to worry, she told me to get an ointment sorta like Neosporin. I popped it again in the shower later that day, all the pus was gone, and after applying the ointment, it was fine within 2-3 days.
I was scared, but, if you are really concerned, go see a doctor, it is embarrassing I know, but the piece of mind goes a long way to help.

i've just had the same problem, i was in the shower a few months ago and i found a little lump on 1/4 of the way up the shaft and it got me really worried so i went to see a dermatologist, and went to the sti clinic, and went to see my doctor and they all told me 'its an ingrown hair, theres nothing major to worry about'. anyway, a few months later i notice it had gotten slightly bigger and harder, it wasnt sensitive at all, i tried the warm cloth technique for a while but it didnt do much, so today i decided to force it out, i prepared myself with sterilised needle, tweezers and clean damp cloth. i squeezed the lump and a tiny bit of blood came out so thats where i poked the needle to widen it, then i squeezed a lil bit harder and noticed a il black thing just poking out from where i poked the needle, so i got the tweezers and pulled it out. i was abit confused at first as to what it could be but when i realised i was extremely shocked! it was about a 2-3 inch long strand of hair coiled up lol. and the lump is considerably smaller and hopefully will be completely gone in a couple of days. so yea if you decide to shave or trim down there look out for things like this, its nothing major to worry about but you are better off going to see a doctor just incase coz u never know

I don't know if I have the same thing as you guys. Im talking about a small but noticable white lump or mass just beneath the skin on the shaft of my penis. I have actually had this thing for almost 8 Years and never done anything about it because i have no idea what it is, I thought it was an infected ingrown hair for a while, Its definitely not red like a lot of you guys are describing. You can actually grab it and pull it up its not attached to the penis its just right under the skin. Are you telling me that some of you guys had this same thing and acutally managed to "pop" it with a steralized needle? That sounds a little risky I may just go to the doctor since Im an adult and not embarrased about it, but I dont really have a lot of time for penis popping doc visits in my schedule so, does this sound like the same thing you guys are experiencing?

A few days ago a bump appeared on the lower part of my shaft. I didn't think much of it and thought it to be just an ingrown hair until it got to a reasonable size. It was about half inch in diameter (across) and seemed as if it was a large pimple with no head. I read all the posts regarding this subject and the descriptions seemed to more or less describe my own problem. I did not think it was an STD because I have always practiced safe sex (even though no sex is safe) and because it was just a single lump as opposed to a cluster. Although after reading the accounts of the successes people had by taking a needle or knife to their lump, and the idea scared me at first, anxiety urged me to try it out. With a clean needle I carefully penetrated the surface of the bump and it did not hurt at all. I then squeezed it and blood and pus came out. Since I did this the swelling is almost gone and it appears back to normal. Despite my knowledge that the best diagnosis is that of a doctor and the fact that I will ask my doctor about it next check up, I think there was just trapped sebum in the penis in each if these cases and as long as no infections occur or obvious symptoms of STDs emerge, I am thankful (at least I hope) that I am free of stds and what happened was just a routine, adolescent occurance that will normalize in the near future.

I have the same thing... I tried the needle thing and white stuff did come out, but left a scar. The scar is finally softening up, but now I got another one. I don't want another scar on my penis, so I might try the washcloth thing.
