ingrown hair/lump on shaft of penis

Aww man this sucks but i am relieved that its only an ingrown hair, because a few weeks ago me and this one chick had sex and now everyone is saying she has STD's so I freaked out as soon as i saw this.

Hi okay I had/ have an ingrown hair on the shaft Of my penis. I recently removed the hair from it about a week ago. It was deffinetly the right hair trust me. But the big red bump is still there, how do I remove the bump . Will it go away by it's self fairly soon? Cmon guys I need help, imagine if sum1 sees this sh*t?!

Reading these has been helpful to me. This morning I was doing what most teenage guys do.. When all had stopped I noticed the lump. Between then and now I have been really concerned as to what it is. But a little while ago I gave it a lady squeeze and a white discharge came out (puss) I think. Hopefully it will go down through the night.

I had small bump between upper leg and scrotum but not on either. Went to doctor and he said it was from trimming and shaving and got infected. Perscribed antibiotics and has gone down to almost nothing. Told him it was not gone week after pills ran out he wants another appointment. Rather see doctor than loose all or part of penis to infection. Doctors have seen them before so get antibiotics.

See the thing is ive tried all these, it seems to workt hen they just come back, im just kinda nervous to just call the doc and be like ya i got some bumps on my shaft id like u to take a look, doesnt suit me at allllllll << so is there any like off shelf medicines that i can use to clear this up,?? thanks

i had the same problem and i had the bump for about a month but eventually i was able to get the hair out and it kinda went away its still a little red now but it will hopefully heal with time

I know this sounds harsh, and it may be painful, but I had the same problem until about.... 2 hours ago... lol. Seriously.

It first appeared 2 days ago as a small semi-hard bump just under the skin on the shaft or my penis. I thought it was an ingrown hair, but I wasn't sure, so I pulled the skin taught, and squeezed lightly, but nothing happened.

I then took a sterlized needle, and very gently pressed the tip of it to the most raised portion of the lump. IT still felt firm, but not "hard", and I could move it somewhat under the skin as if it wasn't attached to anything, and just sitting under the surface. It almost appeared to be a blood blister or a blood vessel under the skin.

After making a tiny hole in it, I suqqezed again lightly, but nothing came out but a tiny drop of blood.
At this point I put neosporin on it, and covered it with an ace bandage becaue they don't make band-aids that big... j/k.
I put a band-aid on it, and left it alone, inspecting it again lat night, and leaving it alone today.
Today though, it started to get sensitive. It was very uncomfortable because it was on the underside of the shaft.
A little while ago, I started inspecting it again, and pulled the sin away from my penis so that I could get in front, and behind the lump. As I pulled the skin tight and put some pressure on it from the backside (opposite the small hole I had made eariler) a significant amount of sebum/puss came out of the hole with some blood. It stung a bit, but I dabbed it up, adjusted my fingers, and squeezed some. I felt the small membrane break which released the entire pocket of fluid and blood. he lump is gone, there is no more discomfort, and I bandaged it up. good to go.

what would you tell someone if they couldnt pop it

I have 4 not large but not small bumps on the top of my penis shaft. They are under the skin and cause me no discomfort. If I mess with them they turn red but then go back to they way they were. I'm nervous it's herpes but I'm not sure. Has anyone seen this or know anything about it? Again painfree, under the skin, bumps about 4-5 cm in diameter

i had this problem, but it was on my nuts and my shaft and my legs..i was so obsessed to get these hairs out, that i sterilized a razorblade and made small cuts along the side of the hair and slide them out so they could grow normally..i do not recomend doing this, it is somewhat painful..but if u are growing tired of it and u ave some steady hands..go for it...but once again i do not recomend, but after this is done i suggest putting neosporin on that cuts just to make sure it heals into a natural pore.

Oh my god, I am SOOO glad I found this thread.  Started sleeping with this girl on a Tuesday night. Having unprotected sex every morning and night (stupid I know, but she was a wholesome girl and not slutty).  After getting drunk, we had sex super hard (as it's hard to cum when you're drunk).  Then Sunday morning I wake up and have a single red lump on the right side of my shaft.  I f*****g flipped out and started cursing this s*** in my head.  After tons of research, I concluded it was herpes.  Then I talked to her about it and she told me she'd only been with 1 guy in the past year. I've only slept with one girl in the last 7 months and she was a virgin.  After finding this thread I realized it wasn't an STD and was one of these sebaceous cyst motherfuckers.  For those of you who are flipping out, if you haven't been w/someone or have but know they're clean, don't worry.  If the tissue is hard and swollen around the edges just a tiny bit you most likely have one of these cysts.  They are totally normal, they just appear after excessive use (hard sex or masterbating).  5 days later mine just started releasing puss and a little blood naturally.  I've had one of these before, just not on my dong.  I didn't use the warm towel method but it does work.  I'm letting my drain naturally but holy mother f*****g God I was so scared I had the herp.  f**k that.  Good luck to all of you.  Worrying is the worst part. You should be able to identify these pretty quickly though.  If they're not opening like a sore and you only have 1, versus many, it's probably one of these, and will just take 5-9 days. 

yea this is actually more common then one might think.  i was told that its mostly common amongst men with norwagian genetic back ground i dont know how much merrit that has to it though, that all hear say.  there is however a europian genetic trait in which the males tend to grow hair along the shaft of the penis.  i have never knowen it to be a tramendious amount of hair it's usually very lite and tends to be, if at all, thickest and more abundant at the base of the shaft.  i'm not speaking from an uneducated background on this subject i have talked to several nurses and a doctor that specialises in genitals as well as first hand experience not only as some one who has it myself but taking notice of other mens cocks and came to notice that i am not the only one who has the cosmetic issue of hair growing along side the shaft of the penis (i am a homosexual sorry if that bothers you).  in an effort to get rid of what i used to think was a freak of nature on me i have groomed and shaved the unsightly hairs along the shaft and one day i discovered a pimple like thing on the base of the shaft of my penis.  scared and worried that it might or may have been an STD i quickly saught out a doctor to check me out for everything along with this test was an examination of my penis.  i specifically asked him about it and he reashured me that not only was it not an STD and nothing to worry about but that i was not abnormal and that some guys have hair folicals in the shaft of the penis, you can even see the hair folicals if you look closely enough they apear as tiny rivets or bumps.  some guys, as i was told by the doctor, its more prominant then others but yes indeed it is a real thing.  so any ways they are going to take a while to heal and go away and until it does heal and go away it will look out of place or sort of worng if you will for a few days.  the best thing to do is to leave it alone and let it heal on its own however you can pop them just like a zit but this will create an open wound on your penis which makes transmission of STD's as  well as infection from any other type of microbial life more of a risk.  when shaving just remember to use a good razor not a dull one, shave in the direction that hair grows and not against the flow of the hair, use moisterising body wash or shaving cream (or that shaving cream body wash all in one stuff they make now that stuff is awsome) use warm water cold is not recomended, and if you do get one and it does pop keep it clean.  chemical hair removial not recomended this will make your genitals feel like they are on fire.  well thats what i have to say about it some people if you do decide to have sex will understand the concept of ingrown hair/pimple some may not. i think the real question is, and you should all look this up, it how to tell the difference between herpes, genital warts, and a penis pimple or ingrown hair.  you can easliy use your computer to look up what herpe sores and genital warts look like believe me there is a distinguishable difference.   

I have experienced the same thing, twice...and different times. Both on the penis as well as the scrotum "sack" due to shaving the area all the time...and I can not stress more in what I am about to say and please hear me out......If you are going to use a needle, PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION. It is very easy to get staph infection and even M.R.S.A (Methicillin Resistant Staph Infection) trust me from personal experience and it is NOT fun. Please, please make sure you sterilize and cover everything. Its best to allow a dermatologist do the draining. But I decided to do it myself and after 2 months and $3600 worth of antibiotics (Zyvox) I am finally staph free. It is VERY dangerous, just google it. It can kill you if it gets in the blood stream.....Just a warning. Because I went through hell over this. Needless to say...I don't shave as much as I use to...I trim/clip.

Okay, so I found that I had one of these bumps a couple weeks ago. Like most of you I freaked out but once i found out it wasnt an std or anything like that I calmed down. Ill tell you how I got rid of mine without involving a needle or a knife, you guys are crazy! first take a hot shower or like others said put a hot towel on it for a while. Then get a facial pad like stridex or oxy. something that has cycilic acid in it. there used for acne but work good here too. Then right after that put tea tree oil on it! tea tree oil is a natural antisepctic. smells bad but works miricles for many things. im sure it also helped that i had an antibiotic as well but some of you dont have access to that. there you go. went away in about a week.
