ingrown hair/lump on shaft of penis

I had same symptoms for over a month now. Looked like an elongated pimple. I get herpes sores about 2-3 times a year that go away in 1-2 weeks... but this was different. No itching and the bump lasted for 1.5 months. I got tired of worrying about it and went to dermatologist today who said it was an ingrown hair-- likely due to shaving that area. He used a razor to make a small incision (no pain, no blood- I felt nothing) then raised up the ingrown hair that was about 3/8 inch long. I'll keep area clean and apply antibiotic-- the whole thing will be gone in a few days.

I don't think any amount of squeezing would have made this problem go away-- that only releases the sebum and infection that has built up but would not remove the ingrown hair which is the problem. Doctor said trimming that area is OK but shave "with the grain" to avoid similar problem in future.

Mt reco is get over your embarrassment and go see a dermatologist. Your doctor and staff see this kind of stuff every day and couldn't care less. The embarrassment is totally created in your own mind.

 

Omfg, I thought I was the only one.

So i'm thinking possibly i'm in the same boat as you all.  It's one big red bump.  When i first noticed it i tried popping it figuring it would just pop and go away.  After nothing happened i left it alone for the night.  The next morning i woke up it had enlargened a bit and i decided to try an pop it some more.  after about two days of messing with it, it finally popped and some slight puss an blood came out.  About 2-3 weeks it finally went away.  Went to the doctor today to get an std check as a precaution.  I'll let you know if you should go get checked out.  But with alot of researching and cruising forums it sounds more like a cyst or ingrown hair to me.  Glad to know it's a little more common then i thought.

If your condition is the same as mine, don't worry; it's not an STD and your dongle won't rot off.  So I woke up about three weeks ago with a firm lump, about the size of a bb, probably about half way down my penile shaft.  I tried some of the other suggestions on here and...

Short Version:  

    Variation of the hot compress idea ended up working for me.

Long Version:  

    I had the same situation occur a couple years back, just a bit further toward the twins.  So I freaked out, convinced myself I shouldn't have ridden the town bicycle unproteced while drunk, went to planned parenthood, got tested, found I was clean and it was just an ingrown pube.  That time I got lucky and the devil lump went away before I had even gotten the results back from the clinic.  This time not so much.  I woke up a few weeks back and hoped for similar results.  A week went by and I got mad and impatient that the situation hadn't resolved itslef and started trying some suggestion that I had read on this thread.  Needle, razor, even the wart remover patches didn't allow me to squeeze out much more than a bit of blood and pus.  And they all hurt like hell.  Then I saw the post about wrapping one of the hand warmer pouches around it and holding everything in place with medical tape.  These hand warmers last for 8 to 10 hours so I'd put one on before work, come home and take it off for a few hours, take a shower and throw another one back on.  The swelling went down almost imidiately and each time between changing my hand warmer, I was able to squeeze out a bit of puss.  After day 4 of doing this, I went to change the hand warmer and there was a bit of a head on this lump.  I hadn't really tried to pop it in couple days so I gave it a go.  I bit the sh*t out of my lip and squeezed like hell.  I felt something pop, heard a little cracking sound, and there was a bloody-p***y mixture on the bathroom mirror.  Then I was able to pull a somewhat firm little sac about the same size and shape as a grain of rice with a hair sticking out of it from my penis.  One bandaid and a bit of neosporin + pain and leaving it alone all night and I'm good to go.

Some friendly advice to those out there in this situation: spend the $10 on the handwarmers and medical tape and bandaids before you stick a needle or safety pin or thumb tack or razor blade, really anything sharp, in your penis.  Good luck

 

 

Ingrown hairs don't peel and turn into dry skin that's more like a wart

Same with me Its one spot not multiple Ive popped it once (it was difficult and painful) treated it with alcohol and now a week later it was back only this time with a white head I popped it again and now its back again I really dont know what else to do Im an adult its certainly not an std but its painful and annoying pull the skin away from the shaft its not attached its definitely skin related gotta be an ingrown hair wife is bugging me to go to Dr but ill be damned if im having surgery on my penis gotta be a better way

I recently shaved and after 1 day I got this, so I assume this is in grown hair I am having but, How can I confirm it, I am kinda worried :( 

It's pretty common to have some hair growing on your shaft... sadly it just gets worse as you get older. Tweezing should slow the growth rate, but just make sure to use alcohol after and keep it clean. You may want to consider getting professionally waxed. There are many "waxing for men" places in major cities. Not cheap, but I do it every month or so.

I had a lump on the bottom of shaft near ball sack. It blistered up and got larger and was really freaking me out. Ive had it for about two months now. I have squeezed and squeezed and puss and a little white stuff came out originally. It went down in size only to blister back up. On Monday I went at it again and I finally saw a little hole develop and so I kept squeezing. This really freaked me out because the spot became more of an ulcerated hole growing out where the blister was with only a blister around the circular edges. I kept squeezing because the small hole I saw started to get hard. Lots of blood and puss later I saw and felt what was the point of a sharp hair. I got some tweezers and pulled on it and to my surpise a hair almost 2 1/2 inches in length came out. Straight coarse and wirey for the top 1/2 inch and then thinner and curlier for the rest of it that was deeply embedded in my shaft. The blistering went down on half but two days later now the blister around the hole on the other side is still there. It appears I have more hairs in there because another small hole developed where I was squeezing but I can't get it to squeeze a hair out. I put hydrogen peroxide on the area after to dissinfect and now I have a gross white looking area of skin around where the hair came out. Don't want to go to doctor and I basically self destructed a relationship because I didnt want to see her and chance she wanted to be intimate. I dont' know what to do. so frustrated. Any advice

Ok every one I just got what looks like a blister on my penis but I found out it was just an ingrown hair or some other weird name said bellow somewhere but as painful as this sounds this doesn't hurt at all. What u need to do is first clean the area with rubbing alcohol. After that u will need a knife yes once again sounds painful but it doesn't hurt at all ok so u will clean the knife and make sure it's clean then kinda pinch the skin around the blister thing and take the knife and gently pop just the top of it (dont know how many times to say this but it doesn't hurt) after that pinch the blister and get all of the stuff out (when I piped mine a bit of thick white stuff came out idk what it was but ik I don't have any stds so lol) so then keep pinching untill u see just blood make sure it's just blood u have to get all of the puss out otherwise u did this all for nothing. So after u are done clean it again and if u want u can apply a band aid. I'm so glad I did this after a day I went away and it hasn't come back in a few days but ill keep u posted lol good luck hope this helps

i noticed a lump yesterday on the underside of my shaft, it kinda hurt so i thought about going to a dermatologist. but about twenty minutes ago i had another look at it and it looked like a gint boil that stung really bad when i touched it so i go my supplies which include

-needle(sterile)

-plenty of tissue

-neosporin

-rubbing alchohal

and a pretty band-aid which i dont recommend for those that have loads of hair and dont shave like me.

i feel much better now and it doesnt sting much and i hope it heals alright :

I just cut the hard pimple like surface open with a razor and pulled the hair out with a tweezer. It sounds painful but it gets the job done.
