I've been running 50+ MPW for the last couple of weeks and my times are dropping pretty quickly.

I did a quick search of my training log from last year and one of my best runs from last year came when I ran over 50 MPW that week. Coincidence?

FWIW - I've only done 60+ MPW once. 40+ and 30+ lots of times.

I think it's a magic number for most. Serious volume is the answer to many a distance runner's goals.

What is a typical weekly schedule for you running wise? How many of those are doubles and what is your max on a long run?

M :: 5.5 mi.
Tu :: 7 mi.
W :: 4.2 and 4.8 (my only double)
Th :: 6.26 mi.
F :: 10 mi.
Sa :: 4 mi. run / 1 hr. bike / 4 mi. run (I don't count that as a double. I call it a brick)
Su :: 12 mi.
That's my log from last week and it's just shy of 58 miles. My longest run this year has been 13.1 miles.

No off days? Or just when you feel the need?

That's impressive training PH, keep up the good work.

Not in the last couple of weeks, but I plan on going back to 6 days on, 1 day off real soon. Still feel like I should keep the miles at 50+ though.

Nice work PH..
Ive kept my mileage in the low to mid 40s recently for a number of weeks and I've noticed improvement. Hopefully Ill be able to hit mid 50s-60s by this summer as well w/o getting injured
