Hi, I have problems with diarrheas that happen often. The cause is not determined. As a result of those (they last for couple of days),I am using medications to slow down the intestines peristaltic. I am using diphenoxylate hydrochloride at the moment and I would like to know is that drug actually an opiate?

I think that you should visit a doctor, because constant changing of diarrheas with constipation means there is something seriously wrong with your intestines. The drug you have mentioned induces the stopping of diarrhea, but it can be dangerous, it can be habit forming. So, going to a doctor is the best solution for you.
